Oh and sexy scale.

There's no way that coffee is evenly extracted when all of the grounds at the edge are left floating at every pour rather than being integrated into the bed. It may have tasted fine, but there's a lot of room for improvement! Just one pour around the edge to integrate the high+dry grounds early on will definitely improve the extraction.
@thekevinwang4 жыл бұрын
That's fine, and you're right, there's tons of room for improvement. I don't have a refractometer to back up any statements around extraction percentage. But it was well within the ballpark of 'this tastes great'. This video also doesn't factor in specifics around grind size/quality, which basically renders everything else nearly arbitrary.

I was thinking the same thing. Right now I'm comparing V60 and Kalita wave and the waves of the Kalita really bother me. I haven't seen, and I don't see how one is supposed to get those grounds that are inside the "wave".

How come you have .1g increments in timer mode? I only have 1g..

It might be firmware version, or a setting you have to set manually

What grind setting did you have ? I have the same grinder

No idea 😆. 6 - something? But every Vario will have a slightly different zero-point, so this won't be very useful to you. ☹️

How do you know how much coffee to water ratio to use?
@jacksonbennett43625 жыл бұрын
Nabilya Dhela Hi Nabilya! It’s all personal preference. Most coffee shops use a 1:15 ratio (which is also used in this video). He used 18g of coffee. And since he used a 1:15 ratio, he brewed with a total 270g of water (18g x 15 = 270g)

hi, i have a question, when i brew my coffee at the end, the coffee bed, isnt even like yours, its like my coffee, is around the paper and stuff like that, it doesnt stay even as how i started pouring. is it possible that i might be pouring from too far up or maybe pouring too much water in a small amount of time?
@thekevinwang6 жыл бұрын
Could be so many different factors... But try to pour in steady circles, starting in the middle and circling to the outside. Pay attention to rotational speed, as well as water pour speed. They're two independent speeds, which you can control with some wrist coordination. :P
@studiocorax87906 жыл бұрын
The problem is called "high and dry", mine turns out the same, but watched a video about it today, will try that technique (smaller and more even pours).
@zizz9565 жыл бұрын
@@studiocorax8790 Making sure ur water levels of each pour remain low with a bit of a Rao spin just after ur final pour would solve the high & dry prob, give it a try u'll be amazed
@studiocorax87905 жыл бұрын
@@zizz956 Thanks a lot. I started do smaller pours, which helped, now I'll try that spin too, didn't know about it.

which grind settings did you choose? I see you have the same grinder as me.
@thekevinwang6 жыл бұрын
Every grinder setting is pretty arbitrary. I've adjusted my "zero point" a good amount for espresso in the past so my 4A could = your 6G... or vice versa. Keep playing with your setting until your total pour time falls into the correct range.

Had that filter a couple years, hated it. Got a burr grinder and expensive beans, never got a good cup of coffee. Now love my Hario v60, also Coffee Gator. By the way, the music in this video is awful and way too loud.
