Pouring the foundation!

It's Pour day and we're doing 36 yards of concrete in this pour for this project. Follow along as you'll see the forms and rebar before the concrete goes in and while we're pouring.

Nice form work , I do this for a living in western Canada, I like how you keep your site organized and clean , we use turn buckle on the braising just easier to adjust longer walls. Keep up the good work. 🇨🇦👍🏻

Nice work. I'd rather have the pipe let down further into the form so the concrete isn't being dropped from a great height, but your forms coped with it so I guess that's okay. Your pal with the vibrator needs to work on his technique, though.

,overall appears to be a great job! However I did notice some rebar slightly out of position in relationship to distance from wall. It appeared to be corrected toward the middle of the wall. Also some tywire connects were not properly wrapped, (Not that big a deal where I saw it in placing of grid. My biggest concern was the slump and the fellow vibrating it. No mention was made about lifts, how many lifts in what time frame. The walers at bottom of wall where same as walers at top. Usually are closer at bottom for increases pressures, but again I have no idea of the time used to pour each lift of concrete. Boss seems confident and has the usual bravado of a young man. All in all it appears to be a great job.

Enjoyed the work that's been done, the radio is totally unprofessional to have on while filming. Shows a lack of forethought for filming. No mention of type of concrete used, slump etc. Beautiful workmanship on forms. I didn't see any vibrator operator. Did you or not use one? Appears someone brought to much cream up around the studs and it can save problems later if threads are taped up or at least a nut spun down to clean the threads of mud or fix any damaged threads. How high was each lift? Did you size the forms for any particular rate of pour, etc? Loved the video, hated the radio noise, and the neighbors probably did too. Sometimes future work can be lost if the noise, trash,etc is a problem to the people seeing the work. Maybe in the future videos you might discuss the walers, strong backs, pins, used, why so and how to start the forms. Like what you are doing, keep it up, and get rid of that radio......you are to professional to let the guys do that to you and the job you're doing.

Von Fowler I appreciate your comment. I totally agree on the radio, it was obnoxious. With that said, this project didn't have any nearby neighbors to worry about and this video wasn't meant to be a how to video. It was simply a progress video so the customer could see what was happening on thier project. As far as the whalers, strongbacks, form ties etc. goes, I do talk about that in a previous video but again that too was a progress video for the client. It did get to creamy on the top but that's because it was raining the day we were pouring. It wasn't supposed to rain that day but it did and we had to keep going. There wasn't any problems getting the nuts on the bolts. We poured this in 3 lifts, since the wall was 10' tall that would be around 3-1/2' each lift. And yes it was vibrated. If you look at the videos after this one you'll be able to see the finished product. It turned out great. Not much point in discussing concrete mix, slump, etc because anyone else's project would probably vary. The mix, breaking strength etc. was all specified by the engineer. If anyone else was to build a foundation similar to this one it too would probably have engineered specs to follow so Amy information gathered from this one would be useless. And if they don't have engineered specs I still won't provide suggestions do to liability reasons. In the future I will keep the radio in mind before filming Thanks.

Covenant Contracting Thanks ever so much for your rapid response. 1st time I watched your videos. I was impressed with you before and even more so now. I'd hire you in the blink of an eye of you were in my state. You would not believe what passes for a contractor in this state. I retired from the trades in Ca 30+ years ago and I sure miss people like you to work around. I'm pretty old now and closer to the finish than the start line but your video sure brought back some good times. Thanks again ever so much for giving me a lift to my day.

Not many braces iam impress an did not blow out. I normally put a 2x4 along the footing and I drill it and put some wedge nails so it won’t blow out at the bottom correct me if iam wrong it will save me a lot of work thanks

I would have put some nails in that snap ties lock and put some more brace on the bottom connected to the brace,I saw some job went into a lose.just me...

curious, will you reuse most of your form material? if so where will you use the plywood? thats some expensive forming material, I just poured a foundation for a build Im doing, having a guy come in with aluminum forms is pretty cheap. also what was the slump and strength of that concrete, it seemed like thick slury. I did not see drain tile around your footings, we use form-a-drain around here, code requires drain tile in most places, just curious. its always interesting seeing how things are done in different places.

I do the same thing but with jaun clamps instead of hair pins but the hairpins I use like you did for stiff backs, just saves a little lumber, I use Gates panels instead of your Plywood, and I use hinged corners, your set up aint moving

Going off memory I think it was 45 yards. The entire foundation with deck piers etc. Was around 80 yards.

Joe Mana I’ve never done less that 6”. But I know 4” is possible.

Cost is the only reason. None within 2hrs of this location and even if there was one closer it would have cost more. Nothing wrong with using a slick line. It worked fine, was cheaper and still done in a little over an hour.
