Nice video explaining the extra steps taken for a solid job. I like the number of strongbacks but I will need to plan ahead to have two different lengths in the needed areas; shorter only for whaler (waler) and longer for strongbacks. Thanks for posting this video.

Thank you, Yes some planning is always needed and this method of forming concrete uses a lot of lumber! If at all possible it's nice to be able to re-use the lumber after the concrete work in building the structure. Unless your a contractor planning on doing multiple foundations it may not be cost effective to purchase everything needed and more cost effective to hire it out. I've seen home owners do this and then re-use the plywood for roof sheeting or? and the lumber for wall framing, specifically interior walls since it will mostly be 2X4 lumber.

That is my concern; the cost of the lumber and since the home will be steel another use of the lumber is not currently known. The size of my job is rather large and the best concrete bid is close to $35k so even with the cost of the lumber it may be cheaper going self build.

Well that does make it challenging. Another option would be to sell the materials after your finished. This would help to recover some of the cost after your done.

What spacing do you like on your snapties?

Great job! I was just wondering if you need studs on your forms because for double waler they usually add studs.

It wasn't needed for this application but I've seen that done a lot in commercial applications. The walers and strong backs were plenty for this pour and the wall turned out fantastic!

Nice! Good job Do you have to nail the walers to the form ply?

Dave S no sir, the snap ties and wedges hold them in place.
