She tells you exactly how to mix this in other videos. The pouring medium is 65% glue to 35% water. Measure that out and mix it in a big container so you have a bunch of it. The ratio of paint to pouring medium is 50/50 so take a cup and pour some paint in it and then add the same amount of the pouring medium you just made up. Mix it nice and good with a wooden stir stick of some kind. Mix until it pours off your stick like cream. If it falls too fast it's too thin and add some more pouring medium. If it falls too slow it's too thick so add some water. Again it should pour off your stick like cream. For those size cups she adds 5 drops of silicone oil. Mix well so it get incorporated into the paints. I usually layer with my paints held higher than this but I'm going to change how I do it now because of watching these videos. I think pouring from a lower height causes less mixing and less chance of the paints turning muddy ( the higher your pour into the cups the more it will blend and possibly become muddy) Also her choice of colours gives less chance of things turning muddy. The similar the colours the more chance of muddy mix. Also the order in which you layer the paints in the cups is important. Let's say you don't want green in your mix yet you poured blue over yellow you ARE going to get green. Trust me lol. Also after watching this I'm going to torch less. I've been torching WAY too much and not getting the nice formed cells like this. I mean mine are nice but they could be better like these. Too much tilting and you are going to get stretched out wobbly cells and you'll cry a boat load of tears. It's all about experimenting and just trying over and over till you get it right. Start with cheap paints and glue and water like I did. The fun is in the process and I learned so much already from this video Julie and I've been pouring for quite awhile. I’ve done some pouring not a lot I noticed that you get more bubbles if you pour from a height. Thinner paint ie:craft type doesn’t need a lot of water added you should start with smaller sizes and work up to larger I find I use a lot of dark colours blues , dark greens etc.,

you can just eyeball it, there's not an 'exact amount'. the purpose of the glue and water is to condition the paint, so that it can be diluted somewhat and still not break down.. it also doesn't weaken the pigments (the color) in the paints very much. some swear it gives them cells using it alone.. f you make too much of the glue and water mixture, its okay. it holds well in a sealed jar. make sure you wipe the rim well after pouring it out or you will have the worlds most boring aquarium filled with glue. lol. i make it by the half gallon and i've never had an issue. you can also save paints not used completely in sealed containers... i buy specimen cups off of amazon (they are the cups you pee in at the doctor if you have bladder infection.. they are semi opaque and have screw on lids, i love em. i used to use the little souffle cups that you would get salad dressing or something in if you ordered take out. you can buy those on amazon as well, or if you have a dollar tree store you can find them in the wedding section with silver ware, etc. good luck. don't be scared, its all trial and error. its fun.

Thanks for the info on the medium. I'm in Cairns and getting all the US mediums takes weeks. Going to try the wood glue with water as medium. I got silicone wd40 which is supposed to do the same trick. I've tried acrylics before but love pouring as a style. Just got back from the shops with all my supplies and going to give it a go with the wife and kids. If we can get anything even remotely close to this I'll be happy. Big love from the far north. 😀

This is beautiful! Some of my best pours were done with just glue and water, I'm in Canada. I use the acid free Mod Podge gloss and they dry with a shine. If they're ones I've kept, I've gotten away so far without varnishing them 😆 I also like to experiment with homemade pouring mediums and I find the glue helps hold cells together so you can stretch them and still have some background colour. I love your colour choices and how they didn't get muddy 🙂

That effect with the 'mounds' in the paint cup is called a trace in baking or soap making. Its where it leaves a 'trace" of the dropped liquid before it melts back into the surface. THis was a REALLY helpful video. Im going to change several things iM doing.

yep. don't hold it very close tho. its easy to scorch your paint and it can also blow the paint a bit and if its started to skin, you will get dents that just are horrible. so keep it far away and make more passes rather than close.

I use glue and water without any oils and it still produces amazing cells. She is right about the glue water ratio .. to get the best cells without oils tho use a scales and weigh it out in grams. Make your mixes 2/1 ... For every say 20 grams of glue and water mix add ten grams of paint.... 40 grams glue mix add 20 ...80 to 40 and so on. You will be surprised at the result without the oils..
