Water company replaced water meter and pipe work out side my house and I came home yesterday from work to a soaking wet hall and cloakroom. Called water company last night and they said it wasn’t their problem and was told to turn stopcock off, which clearly left me with no water last night. Just looked at your video and have pulled all my push fit fittings apart and put them back together and I think 🤞🏻 the leak has stopped! So thanks for the video

Thanks for the video. I've noticed it is really hard to get a straight cut from the coil pipe - so when you add the insert there is a slight gap created - you can see you've also got a gap ( 0:36 on your video). Is this not a problem?.. or does anyone have a good technique for cutting coil pipe straight?
@strategicconsensus5 жыл бұрын
That is what the insert is for. The primary seal is inside the fitting while the insert provides a secondary seal to account for uneven pipe ends.
@POUSEaroundtheHOUSE5 жыл бұрын
A small gap isn't a problem but keep it as small as possible.

Have the same pipe cutter from Wickes. Don't get me wrong its good... but very very sharp... like cutthroat sharp... I discovered this when attempting to remove some redudant plastic pipe fittings through a hole but couldn't see just feel for the pipes.... ouch.

@electronurd32346 жыл бұрын
POUSE around the HOUSE I always have gloves around and I was recently removing some old tiles in the bathroom and I didn't realise the shards were like glass. As I was sweeping up I noticed little drops of blood around the place... and then I looked at my hands... from that point on I shouted at myself "GLOVES" when handling tiles. I would have worn gloves using the pipe cutter but it was a tight squeeze and needed to be sure I was cutting the right pipes. Love the channel.

@darren195217 жыл бұрын
Hi great vid Can you use the plastic pipe to install a shower mixer?If so do you use the plastic inserts directly into the shower mixer or do you use a copper olive? Cheers
@POUSEaroundtheHOUSE7 жыл бұрын
Usually shower mixers come supplied with a threaded attachment that the shower screws onto or alternative products are available to do the same job like bar valve wall mounts or bar valve fixing plates which on joining to the water pipe use an olive as you say (but not direct into the bar valve itself). You can't use inserts into the shower, they are for the plastic pipe only and just stop the pipe getting squashed, the joints create the seal. Best way is to use an olive on short length of copper pipe to connect to the bar valve connection (which ever product you use) then use a straight coupler plastic push fit onto the copper and you can use plastic from there is you want. Hope that helps. Good luck and thanks for watching!

I have to install radiator in my converted loft, can I use this kind of connection and plastic pipe connected to the system which is obviously cooper? Thanx for answer.

While the plastic connectors can withstand hot water, I would still definitely use copper as it will never degrade with temperature whereas plastic will.

Hi, Thanks for the video. Is it possible to bend the pipes around corner?
@POUSEaroundtheHOUSE6 жыл бұрын
You can put a gentle bend in them but they will kink if it's too sharp. If you buy the large rolls, the pipe is already in a curve so it's easier to do it. Best just to use a suitable joint if the bend is too sharp though. Thanks for watching.
