I was a Kitchen Porter in a busy hotel in Scotland, it can be very demanding & it's not for everyone, I worked there for just over 3 years. Do miss the job, but health issues unfortunately got in the way, respect for these hard working staff 👍

Yooooo!!! Shoutout to the dudes in the pit! Good on you, man. Started in the pit, and was supervisor for a while. Insanely intense job at times. I still go help dish close at night and hook them up with food. Gotta feed the dish dogs :)

It seems like a brutal position to hold in a kitchen, but it's one of the most essential.

dish is great. if it paid the same as the line everybody would want to do it.

That water looks very hot. I've been told to use it not boiling hot because that would make starches stick even more. Probably also saves energy to not heat it up that much

This is the same process as a kitchen worker in jail. That's why when you get out of jail you can work in kitchens or at least be certified. But there's a lot that goes on unseen that makes you think. Don't be dumb.
