@9:30 where you mention the car likes to walk on less than smooth roads and feels like you have loose lug nuts. This is one of the reasons they went from 9.5x17 wheels square (front and back) to 8.5x17 front and 9.5x17 rear. The reduced width up front for the last few years of the c4 model run was to reduce the frustration drivers had with wider tires and steering control.

If you get a shimmy with the roof off it is common. Taking the roof off reduces structural strength and on older cars a shimmy might show up. The fix is easy. Add a convertible cross X member. All C4's are set up to accept the the bolt on X member because there's no frame difference between a coupe and convertible. Inexpensive add and your car will corner even better. Love the videos. Keep them coming.

That method of shifting to reverse is better than the ones in the later years. I have a 96 and it has a force-type reverse. To get it to go to reverse, it needs to be pushed with some force quickly to the right to get it through the "wall."
@Doulop3 жыл бұрын
Really??? So weird. Sounds annoying. I don’t mind the way mine is at all! Thanks for commenting. Take care!
@m3chan1zr3 жыл бұрын
@@Doulop Yeah! It's not as bad as I make it out to be, but there's no button or anything to lift up to get it to go to reverse. It just needs to be pushed over hard enough, otherwise the shifter will stay at where 5-6 is. That being said, I always shift from 5-6 slowly becasue I always feel it might go into reverse (reverse is to the right of 6 in the later models).

I need some advice. I'm looking to buy a Corvette as a fun first car. I have about 5k already saved up to buy and I've got a summer job to cover minor repairs once I own one. I live in the northeast but can borrow my parents cars to get around in the winter, so the Corvette would be a lightly driven summer car for me. I've been pretty torn between the C3 and C4. I love the styling of the C3 a lot more than the C4 and like its mechanical simplicity so that I can work on it myself instead of paying extra to take it to a shop. However I like the C4 for its better safety features and fuel efficiency, both of which are of a lot of importance to me as a young driver. I'm a responsible guy, I do well in school, and neither I nor my parents have any major concerns about me owning a Corvette. I've been mainly looking at 74-79 C3s and 90-96 C4s. Anyone have any tips as to which way I should go?
@loxety4 жыл бұрын
In my opinion the c4 should be safer, lower purchase price, quicker/better handling and have more parts availability such as tires, parts at autozone/amazon etc. Don't discount a c5 or c6 as they have come down in price and have an improved stiffer frame and easier to get parts/service then the c4. I've had repair and tire shops say they will not touch my 1995 Corvette.

Joburg, you’ve received some good information here from Craig and Terry. If I had the money for a C5 or C6, I would do that but if you want a C3 or C4, the earlier C4’s don’t have airbags either so the safer thing is basically the same. I hope you get one. Please keep me updated. Thanks so much!

That is not a good Thing. You should lear to drive with slow, crappy Cars. That is the only way to learn how to Controll and drive a Car. If your first Car is already a Supercar from the late 80s, you never learn good driving. That is the Reason why Racedriver start with Go Kart, and later drive DTM, GT3 or F1.
