I’m a hobbyist flipper that has never lost on a car in 48 years until my 1995 C4 got its teeth into my wallet! In 12/22 I found my ‘95 base at a tow yard from an Estate liquidation. 98K miles, all there in seemingly age appropriate good condition for $5,000. So far I have $4k into it and it’s a legit #2 driver. All it needs now is another $4K to make it a real legit #2 show car. … but as a flipper I’m not that guy! It’s now safe and reliable (new opti-spark) super legit sports car that can zip coast to coast! I hope it’s worth $9k to the right guy. Bottom line, as my first ever Corvette I think I’ll do ok. One thing is for sure, it won’t be my last! The only flipper I’ve owned that’s gotten more attention was a 1979 Subaru Brat! 😂😂😂 Honestly, it’s easy to see why the C4 was the best selling generation of all time! It’s aging very well, the 300hp LT1 edition cars are super fun to drive, it still feels mechanical enough to have that classic muscle car experience while driving, handles great, and the value in smiles per mile is unsurpassed in the Sports car world … but not for long! The C4 is coming into it’s own now that the C5 is beginning to trough. My next Corvette will be the C6. It doesn’t have the classic styling of the C4 nor the awkward bloat of the C5, but I notice as I survey the field of the flipper market there a fewer C6 Corvettes for sale then most other generations … and that’s saying something! Good luck and happy driving!

Looking forward to seeing the end result of all restoration and repairs! A similar (albeit clean) example sold on Bring-a-Trailer for $11,000 about a year ago but that had 1/5 of the mileage compared to this. Given the economic slowdown and the mileage I would say $9,000 would be a fair asking price once fully restored but I would not accept anything less than $7,000.

Lots of electrical soldering joints with not really a design to hold up for more than 10 to 15 yrs. Had to drop steering wheel and then remove a lot of other parts to get for then removal of display panel. Sent out to shop in ND and they repaired and return and got to work again so could sell. Car had about 70,000 miles with ac and engine and manual transmission with 3 speed overdrive working good.

Hope you got this cheap. I bought a 1990 with 27.000 miles on it. Great paint and interior. convertible hard top included. Downside: whoever own it just changed oil and lubed it to death. Go figure! I knew what I was in for when I bought it, so I completed all fluid changes, tires, brakes and lines, calipers, pads, and the list goes on. Mines an auto thankfully, and it works well with fluid and filter change out. I'm keeping things stock as possible. From what I see on C4s for sale that are mods o plenty the price drops. I know that for mine I will need a buyer that knows he or she can just add gas and go. Did I spend too much? For the car no, parts YES! It all adds up in the end. You're lucky that you can find some good used parts and help keep prices down. Unless you're a painter. Thats a biggie price wise. plus, a boat load of used parts for the interior and miscellaneous parts. If you keep it a factory color, it helps. With your labor and time, you may get more on the west coast, than east coast when reselling? Looking forward to your repairs on this vett. You really going to have your hands full with this one. But if you like the car why not. THANKS for sharing!

I got My 87 red/Graphite Z-52 from a Crack Head kid I knew from school. In 2004 got it for $2000. Well the car overheated from the water spraying out of intake. But he had to go, and leaving his real girl friend here, to see his CH girl friend in NJ. I convinced him(he was deaf) engine was blown. Since then, I first pulled the intake and fixed, removed the viper alarm, Fixed the Brass key slug in the Column to the key with the chip that was rolled up and taped under the dash back to the column chip key(yep), And Fixed the original security system, fixed the Gauge cluster that they cut the power to, Fixed and Aligned all the panels, Replaced the fuel pump, had it repainted, Did the front and real suspension, replace the mufflers that were gone to Flow Masters, Tires from Eklers, New Shocks, Fixed most little things and have to replace the front wiring harness and fix anti lock to get light out. I have brought this back to awesome. I will do video soon, almost done with my mountaineers heads.

Sort the comments by newest and read my experience so far this year on my unexpected 1995 C4 fixer upper. Honestly, the ONLY thing his project has going for it is the yellow color IF that in fact is the original color. That’s it. And to do a true collector’s fresh factory repaint at a reputable restoration shop that alone could be $10,000! Can’t do MAACO on a Corvette and expect to get away with it! At the end of the day, to get his 1987 162K miler up to my 1995 LT1 C4 with 98k original miles, he would need to spend a good $19,500! … Just to restore the wheels and slap cheap tires on it would run around $2500! Windshield with all new weather moldings $1500, interior $5,000 plus paint that’s $19,000!!! And that doesn’t even begin to take into account his time and parts! Trust me, that pig was abused, run into the ground then it sat for no telling how long before he picked it up. I paid $5k for mine last December, I’ve dropped $4k into get it to a # 2 driver and it will take another $4k to get it to a # 2 show car. I’m a flipper so the next guy needs to put that last $4k into the car and for $13,000 in today’s market you honestly can’t touch the performance or curb appeal in a new car for less than $40K-isk 🤷🏼♂️ maybe more! The value after he does all that plus his work might be $9500. And even then, it’s still a 162k mile 1987 non- special edition Corvette. It would take another 30 years to break even … if ever! It’s too far gone.
