POV: Egin Lakes to ChokeCherry St. Anthony Dunes on a Renegade XXC

This is a POV ride from the Egin Lakes Parking area to ChokeCherry at the St. Anthony Idaho Sand dunes with my Can-Am Renegade 1000R XXC. I tell a story about how I got started riding sand dunes. I am testing some equipment and seeing if this could be a viable way to share my scouting rides I do to find fun routes for our exciting exploration SxS rides. This ride was 9 miles and took 17 min.

Fun POV ride! It brought back memories riding the dunes long before the SXS days, back when Choke Cherry was truly a hero climb. COOL that Choke is still the St. Anthony Sand Dune GOAT.

Dude at 4:54 that’s my black ford and inclosed! We were there with out turbo xp4 and 3 Yamaha raptors. I thought as soon as I saw this video I recognized this quad. that’s awesome! Cool video.

I enjoyed the story about how you got started duning. it reminded me a lot of how i got i hooked on riding around the same time with a brand new 99 400 ex. 25 years later and more machines than i can even remember i still love it the same and i can't wait to get back to St. Anthony's even though it is a 13 hour drive for me. I have only been once and had nothing but problems with my machine the whole time i was there. I am really looking forward to getting my 23 X3 xrc out there hopefully late this summer. You are very lucky to live close to those dunes, It is the most amazing place i have ever been.

I had a Polaris 450 Outlaw MX and a Honda 450r. I hated the Honda in comparison to the Outlaw MX. It felt super heavy. And I started on 250 Trailblazers lol. I had a buddy that built trailblazers and Scrambler 400s super fast.

I’ve heard a lot of people like the outlaws. I’ve never tried one.

Just need to tilt the camera up a little. Otherwise POV is great!

Do you mostly use OnX out there or do you down load maps to Avenza?

I mostly use OnX. It gets difficult keeping up with all the travel maps. They seem to be the most universal.
