Thanks for doing the video, really quite comprehensive as a guide

I use channel locks instead of a vice grip, but those are good too. I have never seen that “flattener” to this day. I’ve heard stories of it, it’s out there in the wild.

Aren't you supposed to wrap the drain wire (shield) AROUND the little clam shell metal pieces, and then slide the strain relief piece onto and over the back half of the clam shell? That then holds those two pieces together as well as traps the drain wire against those clam shell metal pieces. The shield is pinched against the clam shell by the strain relief which makes that connection.
@markdige53743 ай бұрын
Yes! Don’t assemble the shield the way shown in the video! The shield needs to be pulled up over the metal clamshell and the drain wire needs to be wrapped around the shield and clamshell. If you don’t do this, the integrity of the shield isn’t maintained across the connector interface and you greatly degrade the effectiveness of the shield. You paid a lot of extra money for a quality shielded connector, so assemble it per the Neutrik instructions so the shield works for you after you are done!

can you use those yellow strippers to cut the outer jackets of balance 4-way and 8-way multicore cable? cheers

I like to use copper tape to connect the drain wire to the shell

Couple of things. Not meaning to sound like a smart arse. Don’t pull the cassette apart. Don’t remove the black holder off until all wires are fed in. Also with the split clamp shell just push the cable clamp up and that will hold the 2 bits of metal together before you push it into the barrel.

Hi Billy! Thanks for making this great video. It really helped me out. Q A: do you pin out both ends with the same "B standard" wire order? Or A at one end and B on the the other end? Cheers!
@billylaguardia3 жыл бұрын
Hi John, thanks for your comment! I wire both sides the same with the B standard.

Don’t take the guide plastic out. Crimp before. This is a bad video. The neutrik instructions does not recommend this.
