I'm pretty sure they don't ask anyone, the students in the yearbook/newspaper class just vote amongst themselves. Or at least in the district I went to, when I was there no one I knew ever got asked or even people they knew.

Like there was no nomination, or a small set of people voting, it was purely based on how many people typed your name into the box. So that's why me winning that was such a shock.

as an art student I was angry at the yearbook the designs they chose made me want to vomit all of the pages were a gradient or combination of complimentary colors, that were an annoyingly ugly shade and the color they chose for the font didn't even stick out and nothing was consistent, and it was $80 for the damn thing that weighed at least 3-4lbs not to mention ours was a giant square, to the point it wouldn't even fit in most people's backpacks and I was confused, because their were people in yearbook who were also in the school's art program that did beautiful murals around our old town and ALL of the group pictures were of varying quality and terrible composition when it wasn't the teams they used a black backgrounds of the same or similar colors as some people's clothes there were duplicate pictures in some of them and entire section about memes, people's tattoos, and people's social medias I heard my theatre teacher even comment on how bad it looked the slogan on the front in a very small light arial font in all capitals is just "IT IS WHAT IT IS, IT IS WHAT IT IS, IT IS WHAT IT IS, IT IS WHAT IT IS, IT IS WHAT IT IS, IT IS WHAT IT IS, IT IS WHAT IT IS, IT IS WHAT IT IS, IT IS WHAT IT IS, IT IS WHAT IT IS, IT IS WHAT IT IS, IT IS WHAT IT IS..."
