Nice stuff! I enjoyed watching how you stabilize before taking stacks. BTW, you probably should say OM, as Olympus doesn't own their camera biz anymore.

Thanks! Out of habit I keep saying Olympus lol. Still trying to get used to the new name

An easy way to differentiate Cinnabar Moths from Burnets is that Cinnabars have long red stripes that go down the length of the wing. Burnets just have spots. Lovely shots. Keep up the good work.

POV worked very well - thanks. I just purchased the OM-1 Mark II and the 90mm macro, along with the Godox V350O. After laboring with a Canon R5 full frame and heavy Laowa 90mm, it’s much lighter. I’m struggling with in-camera stacking, and might just go with bracketing and Zerene Stacker. What increment do you use in your stacks? With a motorized rail, I can select the increment as accurately as a micron, but with the OM-1, I don’t know what a proper value might be. Is it relative to your magnification and simply trial and error? Thanks.
@JamieSpensley3 ай бұрын
Awesome. I mostly use 2 but if I'm really magnified I might use 1

@@JamieSpensley Thanks Jamie, I’ll give 2 a try and adjust from there.

Great video as always Jamie. I use the OM1 and Zuiko 90mm lens. I fi d it really difficult to rest the lens on my hand and hold a plant or piece of grass etc. Do you gind it easier doing this with the 60mm ?
@pentagramyt4173 ай бұрын
He has OM-1 mark II which provides still 20% better stabilization.
@JamieSpensley3 ай бұрын
The working distance on the 60mm is shorter, making it a bit easier to rest the camera on my hand compared to the 90mm

Excellent....well done. What "Step" setting did you use in Bracketing mode ?

Your stacks look really sharp. You must be standing really really still and have no wind haha. What stacking software are you using ? With Helicon I find that I get a little bit of « persistance » from some images which I guess are because of much slightly too much movement. Always great content anyway, keep this up 👌🏻
@JamieSpensley3 ай бұрын
It was a bit windy but yeah I was just being really still. For stacking, I use Zerene Stacker, and the stacks don't always come out clean. A lot of the time I have to spend a while retouching

Just recently found your channel and have been enjoying, and learning from videos. I currently shoot macro using the Lumix G9 with the Oly 60mm macro lens and a Godox V350o flash. I'm thinking of picking up a used EM-1 mk2 or mk3 for the bracketing with flash capability that the G9 does not have. Since you were using the OM1 in this video, did you notice if it had any additional macro features/capabilities that the EM-1 mk2 does not?
@JamieSpensley3 ай бұрын
I haven't deep dived into the om1 mk2 features properly. But the main advantage is you can use 1/100 shutter with bracketing whereas my em1 mk2 is 1/50 shutter. It is nice but don't think it's worth the extra thousand. I would get a used em1 mk2 like I did. You can get one for about £450 in the UK with MPB

So if I ever upgrade from my EM1 mkII this is the exact combo I would be looking at! Would you say it's worth the upgrade, was the difference remarkable or just ok?
@JamieSpensley3 ай бұрын
This combo is great! I love the lens but I'm not sure if the body upgrade is completely worth the money. I will have review videos out soon

Were using the mechanical shutter? It sounded like it, or was that just the flash? Thanks

Electronic. The sound is the flash firing

Hi Jamie, thanks for the great content. I have a few questions! Does the V860 flash power equate directly to the V350? For example does 1/16 on the V860 come out the same as on the V350? I ask cos I'm using the V350 and struggling for light sometimes on the 60mm at 1:1 ISO 200 f7 where you seem to have plenty here. Does the V860 ever drop frames at 1/16th and above like the V350? How does the sharpness of the 90mm compare to the 60mm? Thanks in advance and keep up the good work!
@JamieSpensley3 ай бұрын
I'll have videos talking about this soon. But I'd say the flash power is basically the same and the 90mm feels on par with the 60mm, if not just a little sharper
