Looks like the lift hill motor was faster in '95. My favorite Schwazkopf! Fantastic in the back - Ted

That's interesting. I haven't ridden this coaster in at least fifteen years or so. The last time I was at the park it was being retracked so I missed it.

shockwaves lift changes speed as you go up it but coming off the lift in this video seems about the same speed as today. what is weird is when you look at really old povs of this ride and the lift chain ends before the crest.

I really enjoyed Mind Bender in Georgia and I need to get on this one someday! Looks fun.

Shockwave has a very similar feel to Mindbender in my opinion. Both a great rides that I hope are around for many years to come.

Nice on-time footage! I'm happy that these type of rides are still in operation today, even the one at Galaxyland. :)

I am as happy as well. This was an important coaster for me to ride as I thought it would be removed from the park before I visited in 1995. It's still going strong.

These are awesome! There weren't many doing POV videos in those days. I remember filming on the rides around 2006 and I thought I was the only one who did that. Unfortunately I no longer have the footage.

I was born in May 1995, cool to see what this ride looked like when I was a lil baby! One of my favorites at the park, and I hope it stays for many years to come.

Damn, I keep feeling older and older reading the comments. Lol. I remember when I was planning the trip back in 1995, I was very concerned that the ride would be removed before I got there as it was the coaster I was looking forward to riding the most, along with Texas Giant. I am very happy that it still operates.

Love the old school footage! I've been to Texas but I've never been to any of the parks. I'm overdue for a Texas trip! :)

I need to get back to Texas sometime. I was there for the media day of Iron Rattler. That was the last time I visited any of the Texas parks. There is a lot the that has been added and I hope to check it out sometime soon.

Fantastic flashback Sean. Speaking of Texas coasters. One of my all time favorite wooden coasters was the Texas Cyclone. Did you ever get a chance to ride it? Still got to check out the video before this one. Tonight sometime. Hope all has been going better than ever S~ Rob/Boston
@SeanFlaharty4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I did ride Texas Cyclone. The first time I rode it was back in 1998. I didn't care for it much back then but rode it again years later and loved it. Thanks for watching, brother!

I'm glad Six Flags has settled on a color scheme for this roller coaster. It would be funny if they repainted it again.

It's had so many colors that it wouldn't surprise me if they get tired of the latest. Ha ha.

I believe the Texas Giant was quite famous during its first several years. It was my favorite wooden coaster at one point.

@@themeparkreconnoiter9787 I actually really like the blue and green colors this has now, and everything else is probably too expensive for Six Flags to invest into this park.

This ride was white back then? I know it was blue at one point and today it's green but, white?

I remember Rollercoaster! magazine covering the history of Shockwave in a issue quite a few years ago. Even back then they had pictures of all the paint jobs it had over the years. I don't know this for a fact, but I believe Shockwave has had more different paint schemes than any other coaster.
@joshhughes96284 жыл бұрын
I could have sworn Shockwave was blue during this time. I do realize white was it's original color. Maybe it was shortly after when they briefly had it blue? Hmm...
@SeanFlaharty4 жыл бұрын
I think this coaster has had more paint jobs than any other coaster that I know of. I remember when it was blue also, but after this if I remember correctly.

Judging by the pink loops, I think this was the "fruit loops" phase of the ride. (I just read that off the Wikipedia page.)
