I have the 16-35gm 2.8 too after saving for years! The trick to manual focus in order to pull out the Eifel tower is AWESOME! I've always wondered how to do that. :)

I feel like you're using the long end of the lens and croping too much my friend, what about the wide end, you don't like it?
