Great video! I use the 16-35 f4 G for 80% of shots for this range. It's so small and light and cheaper, but plenty sharp. If I need something faster, I'll whip out a tiny prime, but I rarely do.

Great video, but I believe, that the 16-35 Z4 PZ deserved a place in the video. Lighter, cheaper, better for gimbal, parafocal, awesome sharpness, even though that lens can't exist without optical corrections.

Swapped 16-35GM for 20G, the only glass that I want for A1 is 24 F1.2 & 85 F1.2. 24mm F1.2 can be made at the size and weight of the original 16-35GM and that is the glass to wait for

LOVE how light this is compared to my version 1!!!! Definitely noticeable throughout a wedding day 😅 My copy’s zoom barrel is extremely easy to twist especially from 35 towards 16. Just picking it up to shoot after each time I put it down/holding the lens turns the barrel. My version 1 copy was nice and didn’t easily turn so I didn’t have to worry about it not staying in the right focal length during the event. Do you notice the zoom barrel being like this or should I exchange my copy? 🙌🏽🤔🥲

When you mentioned you were hoping for a 16mm F2.8 prime with a size like the sigma 17mm f4, thats exactly what I was thinking yesterday when looking up what to pair to the new a7c(ii/R) cameras. I kept watching reviews and was considering the 17mm f4 for its size despite the slow aperture. Im still going to hold out for something different though.The canon rf 16mm f2.8 pancake is pretty much the form factor that I want, but for sony cameras.

Variable nd filter. That's why you would get this over some other wide angle lenses here. I sold my sigma 14-24 dg dn for the first version of the 16-35 f2.8 and I never looked back because of that very reason. For landscape and outdoor architecture, when the sun is strong, with that 3d pop quality and contrast from the gm, nothing come close to it.

I sold the 16-35GM because Primes are wayyy sharper and my 20G / 50GM dual setup on a1 & A7R4a makes me not miss the 16-35GM ever, or even lust for the GMII...I simply need a 24mm F1.2 on Quad XD Motors to allow the A1 to properly flex at 24mm like the 50GM was designed to do.

Exactly. There is a pristine 14GM that has been sitting at my camera shop for $1,000 since May. If that glass could accept a front normal screw-in Cir-PL filter or UV filter, then it would of been gone instantly. The fact it just sits there when so many photographers have seen it, is very telling

I have kinda a off topic question if you don't mind. I have been hunting for an accurate answer... I just bought a used pz 16-50mm. I realise that the image always shake when zoom in and out, at a few certain focal lengthes. Also, I can’t change the speed of zooming by changing the zooming speed number at manual. Can't change the ring function into manual zoom too. Is this normal to this model, or my lens have problem? This is my zooming test: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWrYnGd_qdmApsk The local sony stores don't have a display of this lens so I can't test it. Thanks

Very often I work with people on a scene - where I have spot lighting (from the ceiling, which as you can imagine isn't very flattering). I am doing my best to make them look as good as i can ;-). Often I work with my Sony Alpha 7rIII and I would like to know what in you opinion is the highest ISO I can go to without loosing the quality of the image. I am always afraid to go higher than a 1250 . Thank You for Your reply in advance! All the best and keep on inspiring all of us! 🙂

Why do you EVER need a wide aperture ultra wide zoom when anything more than a foot or two away is infinity on a 16mm anyway? The apeture is largely irrelevant. I'll rather have a 16-35/F4 any day for the smaller size and weight. 90% of the shots I'll use it for will be indoor architecture or ultra wide scenery shots. These will be shot at infinity everything will be in focus whether the aperture is F2.8 or F16. The remaining 10% will be selfie blogging nonsense, in which case I'll prefer a smaller lens I can balance on a smaller gimball.

You can do some creative things with it. Think low light street photography, and some really interesting/creative portraits. When you have a lot going on in a scene with stuff in fore/mid/background, it’s nice to have the f2.8 to kind of focus the viewers eye on your subject. I have the sigma 16-28.

Sharpness sweet spot comes near f/4-4.5 for 2.8 but f/5.6-6.3 for 4. Shooting low-light theater or other low-light scenes is when you’d want that little extra light. Worth $1000 more? Hell no
@duvalpenny100

Lowlight when your subject isn't static. Also, for those close up shots that you refered to. I think fast wide angle zooms make more sense than fast long zooms. DoF at 200mm is still ridiculously thin at F4, and you probably won't find yourself indoors needing a fast 70-200mm very often.
