Well,, this thing´s come a long way from torslanda. It is no older than 1986 though, the two air intakes in front of the windscreen gives it away. B230A carburator engine by the looks of it so probably somewhere between -86-88.

It's not Barbarism, they're simply surviving with minimal resources. Nothing barbaric about that. I respect their ingenuity over us westerners perhaps throwing it away as soon as it needs a simple carb rebuild

Ok, it may need a proper wash, but it never ever looks like 4 million kilometers. When I see it it all its beauty and perfect technical condition and I not would have known better, I would say not more than 3,8 million Kilometers.

@@blexidy Sweden has incredible auto industry and trucks. Such a great country. They have reach new heights in some areas. I deeply admire them. Not only has it got the delete option on the rear lights, but someone has thoughtfully welded blanking plates where the lights used to be. Also i assume this is the top of the range version, as it still has working air conditioning, as proved by both front windows being down. Despite being its high spec, i bet anything from the Mad Max films would be luxurious in comparison.

A high mileage doesnt do this to a car. Its just look purposefully smashed all around, like its been in several junk-car races. Why do cars there get Weirdly bad and smashed? Yes they still run But they sure wish they were scrapped 😂🤷‍♂️

This is recycling at high level! I think they use this Volvo as all other cars in Africa that they drive it until it dies and then they use all the usable parts on it on other cars instead of scrapping them.

The 244s never had leaf springs, it should be a solid axle with trailing arm and coil spring setup. Though it’s probably not hard to adapt leaf springs to it to increase its hauling capacity (which looks to be what’s going on here, quite fascinating actually)
