Well, looks like Honda is holding back the new model till 2023! Auto industry in some turmoil right now due to continued supply chain issues. Toyota CorollaCross is worth a look if you are shopping in this class. Kia Seltos still the one to get in our BTTD opinion.

A month ago I replaced my paid off 19 Accord 2.0 Touring for a 22 HR-V EX-L. I only drive 6500 miles a year. All of those features on the Accord were nice but I never used them. The dealership bought my Accord for more than I paid for it, took the HRV and deposited a check in the bank.
@BeyondTheTestDrive3 жыл бұрын
Excellent move. As much as I love driving the accord the HR-V is such a useful vehicle. For travel and trips is where the Accord would be my go to. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Good review. This vehicle is just basic transportation with some nice styling and features. I bought this car slightly used for my daughter. It's perfect. I'll take the reliability of that engine over a little more HP/torque. I added sound deadening material under the hood, in the doors, tailgate and spare tire area and it made a big difference. Haven't decibel tested it, but it's noticeable for sure. It was easy to do.

Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. Yes, this will last as long as you want it to. The new generation is nice but this original has a nice personality and is very versatile with its space. Adding the sound deadening is a great idea. Thanks for the nice compliment and happy motoring!

I have this exact car. Same year. Same trim. Same color. I am very happy with it and even though I found it a bit underpowered in the beginning, I have grown used to driving it. When I have it in regular drive (not sport mode), I find that a flick of the minus paddle shifter helps a lot when going up hills. This makes it more pleasing to drive.

I purchased this same car in March 2021. The 1.8 4cyl. mated to the AWD CVT is slow, but reliable. (Try convincing the cop it can't go 97 MPH.) I would love 100 more HP and pound-ft. of torque, but I'm sure long-term reliability and MPGs would suffer. The utility on the inside of this 2021 Honda HR-V EX, with its 'magic' rear seats, is second to none! It seems bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. Best resale value in its class.
@BeyondTheTestDrive3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. You have a great car and I think its the best choice for room and reliability. And those magic seats are awesome! And styling is just right. One of the best lookers in the class.

@@BeyondTheTestDrive, Your reply was worded perfectly. I actually liked the Kia Seltos Turbo better than the Honda HR-V EX AWD, but as someone who likes to keep a vehicle for 10 years, I see this Honda as being much more desirable to have in 2031 for reliability and resale value.

@@BeyondTheTestDrive you'll have to forgive my skepticism. Several years ago I bought a brand new Hyundai Tucson with a 1.6 L turbo engine. Only had it for 7,000 mi and it was towed to the dealer twice. That engine and turbo combo was discontinued. Turbos can have a horrific effect on dependability.
@BeyondTheTestDrive3 жыл бұрын
@@sircasm6578 love the dialogue on this as this is a great topic. I feel the small turbo engine is one big reliability experiment paid for by car buyers. EPA gas mileage requirements have automakers using turbos to pass the tests. Toyota has bucked the trend and has really tweaked its naturally aspirated engines for efficiency with dual direct and port injection. The Honda 1.5 turbo has been out now for about 5 years so those cars are getting up there in mileage now so we will see if Honda is making a reliable turbo engine. Honda and Toyota’s naturally aspirated engines will last forever and as you state, worry free reliability is the priority of many buyers. That Hyundai 1.6 is in everything now they sell so hopefully they have got the bugs out. I always remember not liking that 1.6/dual clutch combo.

Thanks for watching and the question. Like some cars I think this was beeping because I did have the key on me and either engine was running or the accessories were on. 2019 EX AWD (she'll be 2 years old on 12/16, btw) owner. The beep is to let you know that the fob has left the car. Many of those settings can be changed, just peruse the manual (or ask your salesman). Yes, the car has little to no get up and go, but I truly like it. Hoping that the 2023 is peppier, but that's my one and only dislike on the car (and I'd driven my little Saturn SC-2 for 23 years when I got my first HR-V, a 2018 LX, which truly was like driving a tin can, thus the upgrade to the EX). I never use the buttons on my fob, and just keep it zipped into my pocket, and let the "keyless entry" and such do its job. Bets of luck (and change the beeps before you go completely batty)!

@@BeyondTheTestDrive what do you mean no way a turbo engine lasts that long? There are already many toyota/honda vehicles passed that mileage, CRVs and accords that I know of from the dealership. They aren't American or German crap that typically requires major repairs/rebuilds at 100k miles lol
@BeyondTheTestDrive3 жыл бұрын
@@kpokfposkf thanks for commenting. My comment was focused on those VW/BMW and GM/Ford turbos. Honda is the only ‘reliable reputation’ company to introduce turbos to main stream cars (accord, civic, and CR-V) so it is interesting to know how they are doing as they get into the high 100s and into 200 k miles. So good to know you know of some examples. Plus Ford now has the ecoboost in their f150s so will be interesting to see if there are 200-500k examples in a few years like their prior naturally aspirated models that ran forever. Toyota has so far bucked the turbo trend in their mainstream Camry, Corolla, and RAV4. I do like driving turbos but they are one more part.
