I have the other twin: the BRZ. How is the blindspot situation for you? Do you keep it as stock, install a blindspot mirror or just change to a wideview mirror?

Watch out for the wrong sealant around the oil pan. It's not designed for a hot oil temperature environment (it's room temperature vulcanization sealant).

Sadly not for us Europeans. Toyota decided to sell only 1000 GR86 for the entirety of Europe, leading to extreme markups. You could get a GT86 premium for 30k€ (even the special editions like the Shark went for only 31-32k), while a GR86 premium goes for 40-42k...
@BeyondTheTestDrive
@BeyondTheTestDrive 2 күн бұрын
That is a bummer. Not sure what Toyota’s logic is given the small size and relatively good fuel economy of the GR86, both things the European market likes. Thanks for watching though. Great to hear from our friends across the big pond. All the best and happy motoring.

This channel’s is one of the very best and informative! Mazda is doing absolutely an amazing job at sales and marketing however it can’t be soon enough for a new CX5 . As far as a next generation: goes I hope it but also very skeptical. I ‘m on my fourth Mazda3, a 2020 Premium sedan and is one of my favorite vehicles that I’ve ever owned.

I looked at the 3, CX-30 and the CX-5, which we bought; partly because it still retained the 12-volt (cigarette lighter) socket -- younger folks apparently don't need the socket, but I've got too many gadgets that use that power source -- otherwise it was a crap-shoot... all good... we've got an elderly Mazda3 (commuter/grocery-getter) and have had other Mazdas including a Miata, so the brand is known to us and being in our late-70s we don't need the seating of the CX-70-90... in any case, we like the solid-driving CX-5 and think the infotainment system one of its better techno-gadgets... no more chasing bouncing touch-screens on less than perfect roads.

Just traded a 2022 Bronco Sport Outerbanks for a 2025 CX-5 Carbon Edition and I am really stoked. Much better ride, superior interior quality and even a bit higher HP without a 3 cylinder turbo. Also, the CX-5 was $2K cheaper.

I can understand the CX5 sales going down because the current version has been mostly unchanged since 2017. 8 model years without a major update is a very long time in today’s automotive world.

@BeyondTheTestDrive Yes. That's where they should target because Toyota is having problems, Nissan is suspect, American models are usually unreliable, and larger models incur tariffs. They could probably sell about 50k models in the 1st year. BUT producing that many would be problematic. They are just now getting out a good number of CX50s from Alabama. Good luck pushing out 50-60k of anything else.

Thanks for watching. Toyota is one of the few that offers port and DI. On the plus side Mazda’s 2.5 is not know for heavy carbon build up. The key is regular oil changes. Turbo owners need to be zealots about frequent oil changes and they probably won’t have a problem. That being said carbon will build up. All the best and happy motoring.

I really like the mazda cx5. But 2 things kept me from getting one. 1. Everything is now AWD. I dont need it. I just need a FWD. Cheaper, more fuel efficient, and less components to maintain or break. Replacing all 4 tires at the same time all the time is just too expensive for me. 2. Cramped back seat.
@BeyondTheTestDrive
@BeyondTheTestDrive 4 күн бұрын
Agree on the FWD thing. They use to offer that in warmer climates but it simplified their assembly and supply chain to just make them AWD. As a small company it makes decent business sense. The CX-50 feels a little more spacious in the back but headroom is a little less. All the best and thanks for watching.

I'm happy with my 2022 Mazda CX-30 CE, but it doesn't have either cylinder-deactivation or stop/start. I wouldn't buy a newer one, however, due to Mazda going all-in on those technologies for the most part. Also would never buy anything with a turbo engine.

Allow me to critique your critique. Mazda's sales profit margin ending in the last quarter of 2024 was 2.74%. That is a healthy profit margin for a small company that invested a lot into the CX90/70 new engine and transmission. This leads me to my next critique; you did not mention that Mazda reliability ranks up with Toyota and Honda consistently and their handling/steering feel are the best of all of them. When you mention "electrification" you should specify by stating "full EV" because Mazda uses Mazda PHEV and Mild Hybrids in their CX70/90 SUVs. This new engine and transmission were not mentioned when you talked about the 2.5 liter engines??? Why? Either research a bit better or perhaps disclose your bias.
