What's worse is that most trainees drop their studies because "I don't need to study to become a celebrity, i just need to train in these companies", then not get accepted and have a hard time catching up with school since they're 4+ years late and their knowledge are now forgotten(might as well just go back to 1st grade one of the teacher said) This actually happened to 2 people i know (we trained together but i stopped) and now they work at the café I owned which they hated but have no choice since they need money.

@@Abi-mf6qy in Korea? Impossible, unless they have very rich parents who can support all the expenses. The songs costs money, unless the trainee knows how to make a song. Recording studios cost money. Dance Studio cost money. MV making cost money you gotta hire people and rent equipment(which is super super expensive). Promoting your song costs money. And so much more. Trust me even rich parents wouldn't want to spend that much money on something they don't know if they'd get their money back, especially if their kids are new to the industry.

@@wthIsTimeEven I watched their pre-debut show, though I ended up not stanning Stray Kids once they did debut. Some of JYP and I remember GOT7 members were judges too- comments actually made sense to me and put some things into perspective. There are many factors into debut, it's not just about having skills or innate talent, or even a pretty face. One of the major factors is actually 'charisma' or having that star-quality aura (some people are just born with it) and their innate ability to attract people, no matter what their appearance is. I remember that one mission, GOT7 members and JYP said the maknae (forgot his name) wasn't really good skill-wise but for some reason their eyes always go to him lmao. When I watched SMent's recent survival show for the new NCT unit, I also heard similar comments throughout the show. There's so many trainees, but they chose some people who, even if they're a bit lacking, has this 'star-quality' that is honestly hard to find cause you just CANNOT train to have that, you have to be born with it.

In all seriousness though, if a company feels as if a trainee isnt at the level they want them to be at, they should just cut them after at least 4-5 years rather than wasting 10+ years of their time and their childhood since most trainees become trainees very young, years that they won't ever get back.
@yaaaan67632 ай бұрын
As far as I know trainees aren't really 'jailed' to stay as trainees. They offer contracts, the maximum offer when you're new is 1 year (that's why you typically hear ex-trainees of other ent say they trained for a year etc.) then after that basically 'trial' period, you decide if you want to continue and sign another one. For smaller companies yes, I know they often force their trainees to not renew their contracts after it ended since they have limited resources. However, for big companies they don't really do this cause they have far more resources. In short, the decision (for big companies) lies in the trainee themselves, the companies has no say in it, it's the personal choice of those trainees and they SHOULD know the consequences themselves. Gotta say, not all are 'fruitless' though. I remember NCT Taeyong was actually one of the worst skill-wise when he started training. He got casted when he was 18 with no prior experience in ANYTHING and so the trainers must've felt that he was hopeless thanks to his age (the younger you are, the easier to train in dancing). They advised him to quit, but he persisted and continued being a trainee. Seulgi and Irene as well, Seulgi trained for 7 years before debuting. Not everyone will get a chance like this of course, but just saying that there's a reason why companies won't outright force these trainees out of being a trainee.
@yaaaan67632 ай бұрын
Also, if you think about it, would 'forcing' them to quit actually helped them? Especially for the specific example you're giving. If they can't even make the decision themselves regarding quitting, it is most likely that they would just find another company to try again cause as you said, the years of training would just be 'wasted'. In the end, the decision to quit the road of being an idol, or try in a different company entirely rest on their own decisions. Furthermore, I think it is far more cruel to quit because someone forced you to, much more than quitting on your own initiative.

It's not really that straightforward though. Like, a company can consider a trainee as part of their debut lineup for one group, then decide not to go with them, but that trainee can go on to debut with the next group from their company many years later. All these things are UNHEARD of in Kpop groups, specially from the big3. Chan is extremely talented, there is no doubt about it. He can rap, dance, sing VERY WELL, can make amazing music and most of all fits JYP moral standards perfectly. He has great management skills as well and is great at deciding multiple things. I heard that in KPOP industry, especially in the big 3, the managers forced you to be desperate after a couple-few years of training. There’s one case that shook me: they would give trainees the contract with offers of free plastic surgery, and be a star that passed away in secret.
@KawaiiKermit2 ай бұрын
What used to happen (still happens but less bad) is especially in SM, if you made it to debut lineup, every member would have to get surgery. If you didn’t want to then you’re cut from debuting. They wouldn’t tell you WHAT surgery you’d be getting they’d just tell you when you and your manager should be ready and you go and get it. That’s why a lot of big company idols have to delay their debut bc of surgery mishaps but it’s “health reasons”. You can also opt to get surgery and it counts towards your trainee debt if it’s not a huge company. Majority of NCT if not all of them had to get surgery before debuting, it used to be a thing at SM where the final hurdle to guarantee your debut was to allow them to go through with changing your face. It’s terrible. But gotten slightly better now

Honestly trainees should be treated like athletes that sing until they are put in a debut lineup so they can remain “normal” lives till debut

I would be so happy just being a trainee , and learning what I like , seriously I would still be appreciating it because, I would be training for my passion and love for music not for fame

But imagine not having your talents appreciated and then u get someone who just trained for like 3 months and thier debuting

They are trained for their dance skills not singing. You could take vocal lesson if you love music without wasting your time with hectic schedule and strict rules from the company

Yup and then they end up debuting someone who only trained for not even a year 😀 (by all means it does not mean they’re untalented or don’t deserve it, it’s just a slap in the face for those with seniority)

They should be gaining popularity on their own before joining the company to train. In that case they had higher chance to debut since they already had a audience.
