That's so painful when u trained almost ur whole life just to find out that u won't be debuting is the worst feeling for every trainee😢😢😢

What's worse is that most trainees drop their studies because "I don't need to study to become a celebrity, i just need to train in these companies", then not get accepted and have a hard time catching up with school since they're 4+ years late and their knowledge are now forgotten(might as well just go back to 1st grade one of the teacher said) This actually happened to 2 people i know (we trained together but i stopped) and now they work at the café I owned which they hated but have no choice since they need money.

Rejection can be protection. They can try to become their own independent artists free to do whatever they want and use all that training for that

@@Abi-mf6qy in Korea? Impossible, unless they have very rich parents who can support all the expenses. The songs costs money, unless the trainee knows how to make a song. Recording studios cost money. Dance Studio cost money. MV making cost money you gotta hire people and rent equipment(which is super super expensive). Promoting your song costs money. And so much more. Trust me even rich parents wouldn't want to spend that much money on something they don't know if they'd get their money back, especially if their kids are new to the industry.

Tbf, having the tag as a "yg trainee" (particularly one that has some form of popularity while being a trainee there) will almost always guarantee you a debut spot in another company. Because YG rarely debuts groups, many companies are always checking for trainees they can poach lol YG trainees don't have trainee debt as well so it's easy for them to leave.

@@mary_lu Yeah, their director of training said it's basically free because it's an investment. I even have the sneaking suspicion that YG secretly supplies trainees and services to other kpop companies lol 😂 They willingly share their resources and services to other groups, like their choreographers and their dance studios. They're even the distributor of music from many big kpop companies 😅.

@@wthIsTimeEven I watched their pre-debut show, though I ended up not stanning Stray Kids once they did debut. Some of JYP and I remember GOT7 members were judges too- comments actually made sense to me and put some things into perspective. There are many factors into debut, it's not just about having skills or innate talent, or even a pretty face. One of the major factors is actually 'charisma' or having that star-quality aura (some people are just born with it) and their innate ability to attract people, no matter what their appearance is. I remember that one mission, GOT7 members and JYP said the maknae (forgot his name) wasn't really good skill-wise but for some reason their eyes always go to him lmao. When I watched SMent's recent survival show for the new NCT unit, I also heard similar comments throughout the show. There's so many trainees, but they chose some people who, even if they're a bit lacking, has this 'star-quality' that is honestly hard to find cause you just CANNOT train to have that, you have to be born with it.

In all seriousness though, if a company feels as if a trainee isnt at the level they want them to be at, they should just cut them after at least 4-5 years rather than wasting 10+ years of their time and their childhood since most trainees become trainees very young, years that they won't ever get back.
@yaaaan6763
@yaaaan6763 2 ай бұрын
As far as I know trainees aren't really 'jailed' to stay as trainees. They offer contracts, the maximum offer when you're new is 1 year (that's why you typically hear ex-trainees of other ent say they trained for a year etc.) then after that basically 'trial' period, you decide if you want to continue and sign another one. For smaller companies yes, I know they often force their trainees to not renew their contracts after it ended since they have limited resources. However, for big companies they don't really do this cause they have far more resources. In short, the decision (for big companies) lies in the trainee themselves, the companies has no say in it, it's the personal choice of those trainees and they SHOULD know the consequences themselves. Gotta say, not all are 'fruitless' though. I remember NCT Taeyong was actually one of the worst skill-wise when he started training. He got casted when he was 18 with no prior experience in ANYTHING and so the trainers must've felt that he was hopeless thanks to his age (the younger you are, the easier to train in dancing). They advised him to quit, but he persisted and continued being a trainee. Seulgi and Irene as well, Seulgi trained for 7 years before debuting. Not everyone will get a chance like this of course, but just saying that there's a reason why companies won't outright force these trainees out of being a trainee.
@yaaaan6763
@yaaaan6763 2 ай бұрын
Also, if you think about it, would 'forcing' them to quit actually helped them? Especially for the specific example you're giving. If they can't even make the decision themselves regarding quitting, it is most likely that they would just find another company to try again cause as you said, the years of training would just be 'wasted'. In the end, the decision to quit the road of being an idol, or try in a different company entirely rest on their own decisions. Furthermore, I think it is far more cruel to quit because someone forced you to, much more than quitting on your own initiative.

It's not really that straightforward though. Like, a company can consider a trainee as part of their debut lineup for one group, then decide not to go with them, but that trainee can go on to debut with the next group from their company many years later. It happened to a lot of famous idols. Johnny from NCT is the first example to come to mind. Heeseung from ENHYPEN is another.

Depends. A lot of companies give you an allowance unless it’s a super poor company. Mid sized companies give allowances usually and the trainee debt isn’t too bad if the company name is well known but that’s what everyone who applies knows and it’s on them. It’s written into their contracts exactly what to expect and they sign anyway and usually, it’s more for the chance at being an idol than being a well balanced artist

@@guessimintoblondeandsaltybrats. JYP had bigger plans for him. One would wonder why would JYP put so much faith in one trainee but I think he really did. He let Chan decide his own group members, let him decide the group’s name, let him draw the group’s official logo, let’s him manage the entire musical and management aspect of Stray Kids, let’s him say things on Vlives that other idols might not, let’s him spoil major songs without repercussions and many more. All these things are UNHEARD of in Kpop groups, specially from the big3. Chan is extremely talented, there is no doubt about it. He can rap, dance, sing VERY WELL, can make amazing music and most of all fits JYP moral standards perfectly. He has great management skills as well and is great at deciding multiple things. I think JYP had already planned to make a group around him and let HIM handle the entire group like he now does with Stray Kids. JYP knew his skills extended beyond just music and didn’t want to waste his potential by putting him in GOT7 where the boys barely have freedom in their music and management process. Everything is decided by the agency. So I think these things were the reason Chan didn’t debut in GOT7.

Her company initially decided to debut her, but later they opted for a reality show to select debut members, and despite making it to the final stage, she didn't succeed, she then left the company and sadly shortly after that she self-exited.

@@Fav.ze. oh that's stupid. Not suicide but the term "self-exited"... So we're really gonna make any term up to censor the word suicide. There's no beed to tone it down. Suicide isn't something that should be toned down. First "unaliving oneself" and now that... Thank you for the clarification.

me when i watched those produce shows, seeing good trainees being eliminated and then never hear from them again. you might get lucky if they have an id account but then that's it. it's so sad seeing them go train and for the ones who really wanted to debut or have great talents, just grow out of it and leave the entertainment world completely

This is definitely relatable to the SMrookies girls (mmc line up) especially koeun who literally trained for 10 years in SM just to not debut with aespa cuz the concept didn't fit her (I guess) same thing also happen with Hina who already in the debut line up but got changed cuz she also didn't fit aespa AI concept....

The story of Ahn Sojin is super heartbreaking. She had unfortunately unalived herself after being a trainee for a long time and being close to debut but never achieving it. After placing 2nd on Kara Project she jumped off a hotel being unable to secure debut. She viewed it as her last chance to be an idol after sacrificing it all with the disapproval of her parents. And feeling like she has lost everything, she unfortunately committed self unaliving.

Billlie's MoonSua😭😭 Literally trained almost 10 years in yg, and was even presented as a "future 2ne1", super talented, left the company, trained 2 more years and debuted in Billlie, and just doesn't get the recognition she deserves. She could've even joined bp, and imo, she could've been the most talented member.

Ik this might not be much compared to the other idols in the comments but there was a girl called Minyoung who almost debuted with Twice. She was a trainee for 6 years and had exceptionally good vocals, like perhaps even better than twice's vocal line. She failed to make a debut in 6mix the year before and failed to do good in sixteen because of that. She has a KZbin channel today and is called myssong. Please support her ❤

I heard that in KPOP industry, especially in the big 3, the managers forced you to be desperate after a couple-few years of training. There’s one case that shook me: they would give trainees the contract with offers of free plastic surgery, and be a star that passed away in secret.
@KawaiiKermit
@KawaiiKermit 2 ай бұрын
What used to happen (still happens but less bad) is especially in SM, if you made it to debut lineup, every member would have to get surgery. If you didn’t want to then you’re cut from debuting. They wouldn’t tell you WHAT surgery you’d be getting they’d just tell you when you and your manager should be ready and you go and get it. That’s why a lot of big company idols have to delay their debut bc of surgery mishaps but it’s “health reasons”. You can also opt to get surgery and it counts towards your trainee debt if it’s not a huge company. Majority of NCT if not all of them had to get surgery before debuting, it used to be a thing at SM where the final hurdle to guarantee your debut was to allow them to go through with changing your face. It’s terrible. But gotten slightly better now
