Employers look for team players, employees look for team payers.

When I was being interviewed for a freight lead receiving position from which I already knew what the duties were that the interviewer kept mentioning extra responsibilities, (wearing extra hats) that had nothing to do with receiving duties since they had let several mgrs go to save money. They definitely didn't want to pay me extra so I smiled and said no thanks and left.

Really. I treat people with PTSD. In an average week I see clients that have been sexually abused, raped, violently assaulted, sometimes clients that have seen family members murdered in front of them. Sorry if you've had a bad time in some jobs but don't try putting yourself in the same category. Don't even joke about it. It's pathetic and diminishes what these people have been through.

This is standard, but also this is how they can abuse you. After reviewing the offer and saw about the “extra duty as needed” I emailed back and requested a copy of this “extra duty” I was told it varies and they can’t really type it all up. I told them I can wait even if it is 200 pages of “extra duty” I still wanted to know.

gotta love those open ended contracts where they wont give details in other words the extra tasks will be unpaid.

Got scammed by this myself. Worked for an office supply company, as a tech behind the fancy counter... on paper. In truth I was the same as any floor associate, and paid the same, but expected to also fix any and all tech from PC's to phones to random gadgets and printers. Twice the job with the same pay.

On real “teams,” players only play ONE POSITION at a time. You’ll never see a team where the quarterback is also tight end, wide receiver, and linebacker.

People will always be reasonable and pick up the slack if needed. The problem is that companies are NEVER reasonable and create the slack deliberately to save cost. I love these videos. They should inspire every worker to just stop putting up with it.

When you hear “ team Player” & “EBITDA “ in the interview. Stand up and walk out the door.🚪.
@Redbird49124 ай бұрын
I can just see those "additional duties" piling up in your in-tray as soon as you start.
@Redbird49124 ай бұрын
So let's remove that clause from the contract and replace it with a renegotiation of renumeration every time you want to give me additional duties, so that I'm not exploited by your good selves. No additional renumeration for additional duties, no additional duties. If you don't agree, find someone else to exploit.

Yep! The door closing behind you as you leave is the ONLY response I gave at an interview as well. Then reported to the agency what they were trying to do. Within a week they company had to hire from the Job Center as no agency would deal with them and their crap anymore.
@CraftHarlot4 ай бұрын
Um, no. There will always be one-offs that need to be handled as they arise, and those things can't really be listed as part of the job description - such as fixing the printer jams or answering the phone when a coworker has to leave early. We pitch in, we help out. But many companies use that "additional duties as needed" phrase to squeeze more work out of one person when they should be hiring another body.

After being hired as a clerk, I was put into roles of clerk, then evening lead person in a completely different department, then put back into grocery then put into meat shop manager, (Department head with extra duties they wanted me to do off the clock), then into Pets manager, and back to receiving freight, BOSS even gave me a key to the back delivery doors for a short time, then grocery clerk then clerk in Dairy department. Basically, because I could handle a TELZON machine and loved working on-time and working all day, with few breaks, I was moved into department manager slots several times, especially when they had nobody wanting that position in that department, or just problematic workers that were younger.

I have seen many of these animations popping up but from different channels. All of them tend to be quite good and glad to see these shenanigans being exposed in full force, at some point the corpus and HR cronies won’t really be able to save face. However, who is the mastermind behind is? The original creator? Is it this one Tony Animation? In any case, BRING.IT.ON.SOME.MORE please

In a perfect world you may have the option to negotiate your Sal or hourly rates, but in reality if you actually try to negotiate your gonna end up not getting hired, because there is always someone else who will do the job cheaper than you.
