Reminds me of when I was playing Round Robin with like 7 other people. I threw in a Tefaris Puzzle Box and Ensnaring Bridge for fun (we play what we got, not based on typical rules). Imagine the look on their face when I cast both on the same turn as my last 2 cards in my hand. Tefaris Puzzle Box makes it so that each players draw phase they place their hand at the bottom of their library, and draw that many cards. Ensnaring bridge means they can't attack with cards stronger than the number of cards in my hand. Deck outs for everyone as they cant seem to keep a destroy card to get rid of my bridge or puzzle box.

As someone who has only recently started messing around with an online version again after many years of playing MtG, I will say that Pendulums are sort of the odd one out as far as new mechanics, but I like it more than Links from a design perspective. On a fundamental level, it is a fun deck-building challenge to make sure you have the right scales when you need them, and it helps high-level main-deck monsters be relevant. I think the big issue with Pendulums is that they gave them two different effects boxes, which just made them daunting to understand, especially some of the extra deck cards with huge paragraphs of text. You have to really study your deck and understand it, and it puts a lot of burden on the opponent to do the same. That isn't a big ask when it's one or two cards, but when it's EVERY card, it can be miserable. My understanding is that they were also a lot more liberal with how many monsters could be summoned with pendulums and have toned them down in more recent rulesets, which I think was the right call. Granted, I dislike Links more from a design perspective, because I feel like they tend to be far too easy to summon by comparison to a lot of other extra deck monsters. I've seen some decks go through 3-4 extra-deck summons in a turn, and I think that starts to get overwhelming to people who aren't familiar with the game.
