You mentioned possibly wanting a better functionality for the "Move to today", "Move to tomorrow" buttons. Seems like you could just create a "Move to new date" button that would pull up a date picker. You probably already thought of this, but just wanted to chime in there. Also, love the videos man! Keep going. Only other recommendation would maybe be to learn a screen recording software since sometimes it is hard to track your screen when you just record your monitor through the handheld camera. Might make it a little easier for viewers. All that said, it's not that big of a deal, but would also help with the glare.

Man I can honestly say You are doing what I wanna do! I'm currently a Web-dev student, and I'm slowly working on my start-up idea, but before it can really get started I need to do freelance web dev work with my own agency. But its all a work in progress.
@ryanburryy4 ай бұрын
yeah i think starting the freelance/agency route can be good, it just takes a lot of work. (pretty much have to make it a full time job atleast in the beginning) one of the reasons I stopped mine was because i realized I didn’t actually like it, and was tired of losing deals because they wanted to pay no more than $100. it’s definitely a good stepping stone though because it teaches you tons about the business side of things, and gives you capital to then invest in a startup idea, or whatever else you’re passionate about.

Great vid dude, and awesome product. Something that might be pretty cool would be an integration with the Brightspace API (or other major LMS) to automatically sync courses, schedules, assignments, grades, etc. Could even give feedback like correlation between notes and studying done in the platform with actual grade outcomes. This is the first video of yours that I've watched and damn you touched on a thing I've been battling for the past decade. I turn 30 in a few days and am about to be made redundant in November. I'm a U/UX Designer and have been in the industry since I was 20. For the past 10 years I have started multiple projects with the hopes of making something that can support me without the need of a 9-5. Everything you mentioned was exactly how I have felt for the past 10 years. With my redundancy coming up I am finally taking the leap and launching my own thing. My piece of advice is to take advantage of your age and incredible knowledge already. When I look back at my younger self I see a lot of complacency, ill-discipline and laziness that I now am regretful of. Be patient with yourself and ok if you're not finding success as quickly as you would like but don't let that impact your effort level. You documenting your progress with only do good things for you. Keep up the good work and sorry for the essay haha
@ryanburryy4 ай бұрын
i really appreciate it. I think another big factor is that no one tells you that you can do things on your own or go a different route, society pretty much pushes you down a certain path so it’s really easy to miss it. and tie that with the comfort of a job it’s really hard to feel the “need” to give it 100% effort. so this could be a blessing in disguise. also really great advice, this comment means a lot. and for what it’s worth, 30 is still really young too. good luck with your project 🙌🏻

Not sure if this is something you have already considered, but I really like simplicity when it comes to note taking, but if there is a cool way you can thing of to effectively categorise all the notes in some way that will be really cool. I currently use Joplin, because I feel like note taking apps like obsidian and notion have too much unnecessary stuff going on. But that being said even though joplin is simple I wish there was better categorisation and maybe some different coloured highlighting, also more cool syntax highlighting for code snippets.
@ryanburryy4 ай бұрын
yeah simplicity is definitely a important factor for me too - right now the main organization is based on course. So it would look like: course > folder(s) > notes but also not all notes need a course (if it was something more general) Always open to hearing improvements so what do you think would make Joplin's categorization better?

I imagine it will be difficult to find related content specific to the question you're getting wrong, that's semantics. Unless the questions are really narrowly labeled some how.
@ryanburryy4 ай бұрын
yeah it’d be tricky. thats a good idea with the labels though. maybe could prompt it to give each card a label that’s the “topic” and then keep track of each you get wrong and if you get x amount wrong with the same label then it prompts to generate more with that label? definitely gonna be a later problem. this might be more beneficial with long answer/solving type questions tbh

@@cinnamon3556honestly i end up customizing it a bit anyways, I mainly just use it for its ease of use. for example things like tabs, popovers and modals are much easier to use in shadcn then to make from scratch (functionality wise). so i’ll design first in figma, and then use shadcn components when developing, but most of the time i’ll customize the styling a bit on the components to match the mockups. that’s part of the reason i like shadcn so much because it feels like you really have full control over it.
