No clue why the receptionists thought they always needed to know why we were late. If it was a cause for concern, the teacher, form teacher or headteacher would call you out on it. Pretty sure they just wanted to make us feel bad.

I have a story So in year 3 I was late and the teacher made me stand up infront of the whole class telling why I was late so later when I got home my mum phoned the school and told them what happened and that teacher got in trouble I still remember it lol

In my school, we have a computer screen where teachers and students who are late or have appointments or need to leave school for any reason sign in from. I thought all school had a screen like that.

in my primary we go thru main reception and then use a screen to sign in, the receptionist would ask why ur late and then if its more than 2 days in a row youd parents get called. in my secondary we just go thru main gates to the student entrance, get to class and get marked as late 😕

I remember when this happened to me and the receptionist said “u don’t see teachers or staff coming late do you so y do you think u can?” And I told her bc my parents are paying ur salary I’m coming to school out of my own free time ur actually getting paid cuz it’s ur job so u can’t be late where as I pay to come here so I can be late she looked at me and told me to go to the deputy principals office and I did and I called my mum and my mum blew up on the deputy principal. Now every time I’m late the receptionist doesn’t say anything 😂

My school would close doors to get in at 9:00 and force us to go through reception. A lot of kids went to my school and they allowed one entrance at a time. So we would be like waiting in a mass line to get in. When they closed the doors on the last few waiting wed have to line up in reception and wait for the receptionists to stop chatting and come sign us in and open door. This would make us really late. And we couldnt just get to scool early cos they opened doors at 8:55 wouldnt let us in any earlier
