Yugoslavia was first on Germany's team but was then newtral before it moved to alies but soon lost. In 1944 Yugoslavia got independence from Germany and was back on the alies.

For historical context, the regency headed by Prince Paul wanted to sign the deal with the Axis but a British backed coup headed by the King of Yugoslavia and supported by Tito's communists overthrowned the regency and didn't sign it.

If Yugoslavia had not disintegrated. That would be the state. As Tito said, Yugoslavia can easily have 8 million soldiers who are used to war these 1000 years. Even the USSR couldn't do anything to us. They would be a real force in Europe. The deadliest man in the world did not kill DRUG TITA.

At first Yugoslavia had joined Germany, but a few days later they suffered a coup d'état backed by the United Kingdom and switched sides in the war. I don't think that you becoming a communist would be a good ending, both options were terrible so Yugoslavia was really dead end, it's not because the Soviets defeated the Germans that they become the good guys
