It’s really fun! You just have to go up and down constantly while trotting which we call posting and you need leads and it’s like you don’t need one saddle for everything you need 1 MILLION kinds of saddles I don’t suggest jumping too much your horse will either-Spook at the jump-Refuse-Just dump you that’s it!

I did both, english is harder because there is the trot where you always need to look at his leg and as i know the horses are getting less freedom than western.

Western is so much fun it is very thrilling but the saddles weigh a lot and if you lose control a little you have a horn to hold on to so yeah.

Western will always be the coolest thing to me. I’ve been wanting to learn how to ride horses but I live all the way up in the arctic so that’s probably unlikely. We literally have like- a Walmart and that’s the biggest store we have. It doesn’t even have a produce place. Zero chance I’ll find stuff to be able to own a horse

i always wanted to try western! i only had like one lesson when i was 7 and it was walk-trot but the saddle was so comfortable?! and it was nice that for once the trainer allowed me to give the horse more freedom on the mouth, i always try being gentle and lead with my whole body but for some reason english trainers can't stand seeing the reins even slightly loose

English through and through i used to ride Western but ever since I first rode in an English saddle i never went back. I just love the disapline that comes with sitting in the saddle. The only timw i can multitask is when I'm with my horse and English makes multitasking fun because that stupid horn isn't in the way ans i can actually carry the saddle.

I ride western, but today I jumped in western for the first time! It was small, probably about 8 inches. I was riding an older horse, who was abused and bucked with me 7 times earlier today. Anyways, my trainer said, “He may be old, but let’s see what he can do. If he can’t do it, just let him walk it out.” So, I trotted up to the jump, did my little 2-point (I think) and he did SO good! We tried again, because he seemed to be more engaged, he knocked the pole but I sat on his back so I understand. And before you comment, “Jumping in a western saddle is abuse!” It’s not, it may be heavier, but that’s why you do smaller jumps. You can’t do as much as an English rider, but you can still jump. But next week I get to jump on another horse that can actually jump in western, (his name is Winston) but I might ride a spicy mare that also can- cuz Winston has an awake are jump.
