"Poverty is not our fault" BBC Stories

Growing up on the edges of England can be hard.
Coastal towns are among the country’s worst for earning, employment, health and education. At two ends of England, Hartlepool and Hastings face similar problems. Both towns have seen a fall in life expectancy and unemployment is a problem.
We met four young people who have grown up there.

I grew up rough but knew education & Jesus was the key to a better life. I loved college. I tell my kids that NO ONE owes you anything in life. You owe it to your self to do good in life. If you want something then work hard for it. These people have pride in where they come from and some have over come diversity in life.They are fighting for a better life. They have HEART !!!

@KLJF false equivalency. first off, a stranger falling over in the street may very well be capable of picking himself off the ground. Many would refuse help. An older person that can't...you help them up. But again, this is not "owed" And it does not need to be said "Hey no one owes you A N Y T H I N G" Howington is correct. No one "owes" her kids anything. A person willing to help them out is not giving out what is "owed" to them.

A lot of this hardship could've been avoided if those young women were educated and given free contraception at that time, or even now. Learn three things: 1, Study as much as it's possible for you. 2, get a job-learn to look after yourself first, make a living, 3, Only have children when you're married or you are in a stable relationship. Poverty comes from poverty, sometimes it can be avoided. It's not always about the deprived area you live in, it's bad choices in life.

I often hear a similar story from people who are from West Virginia and Mississippi in the U.S. This is shameful! I blame Britain’s love affair of the class system, caste/race-based manœuvres, etc. for destroying the economic fabric and security of the UK and U.S. (especially in its foundation)

When there is little employment there is little life structure. Opportunities are lost when there is little upward mobility. Not having a job to plan your day, weeks, years around, people Take up petty crime or worse. The community, and family structure falls into a pit of despair without having that pride of self sufficiency. Personal pride and responsibilty is missing when the governtment takes care of all from cradle to grave. Jobs bolster up all social groups, family, community, etc. When the jobs moved out despair settles in it's place.

There is work yes for lower skilled people but it's below min wage in warehouses drone work many don't want that. Why should people work for below min wage it's the fat cat companies that are to blame too there not fair they want to make you survive on as little as possible in this world.
