I bought a Bluetti EB3A - the runt of the litter - last fall and ordered up a 2nd one just yesterday morning. Both of them were on sale and cost me around $220 a piece. The MPPT circuit is perfectly sized to a typical 100W PV panel and charges the small battery inside (it's only around 250Wh) in about 2 hours. I'm probably not going to use the AC charging feature all that often, but it's nice to know it's there if I need it. The 600W inverter is very clean and allows me to power a variety of small and efficient cooking devices. Most of the competition in this size class (Jackery, etc.) have inverters that are in the 300W range. Hobotech did a nice review of the EB3A a few months ago and there is at least one fairly detailed tear-down video somewhere here on KZbin.

About the Wattmeter Problem: Maybe your heatgun uses a diode in low power mode and thus only takes current during one cycle of the sinewave. Hairdryers do - and that confuses some powermeters.

Great Will.... You stole my thunder on this one! I might as well ship my review unit back LOL...joking. I thought the price was fairly decent on this one when compared to Ecoflow and Bluetti options. LFP, fast AC charging, decent inverter.... way low 120w solar input though. I still haven't tested mine yet so I'll pay attention to the screen / watt meter for accuracy. If it pulls 85% rated capacity it might be worth $399.

Big selling point on this unit is LifePO4 and nobody ever states whether it uses a PWM or a MPPT charge controller. How about the Bluetti? That makes a giant difference. The best units should have Both LifePO4 and MPPT charge ability. Maximized battery capacity AND full charging potential of my solar panels. Those are the TWO most IMPORTANT features for device efficiency. I want a battery that lasts 10 years and a charger that charges the fastest and most efficient way possible. Yet nobody on the internet ever mentions these two features together. I don't care if the case is pretty or if the thing has 47 outlets. Two AC outlets, two DC outlets, and what type of input connections are the most important features. For the money, the time it takes to charge is not that important. They have to cut costs somewhere and charge time is acceptable on a small unit like this one. I think this unit has MPPT too, but can't confirm. Just checked with the company and YES! It has a MPPT charge controller! This eliminates most EcoFlows, Jackerys, Bluetti, and most likely any of the other major branded generators. Again, this item wasn't demonstrated properly. It was put down to discourage the competition to the main brands mentioned above. Another company that makes low power generators with the features I mentioned above is Wetown on Amazon. These two are very solid units that can outcompete the main brands. They don't have the marketing that you pay for and have good customer response. There are other units that are similar as well, but I'm still researching their customer responsiveness and reliability. Not very impressed with his rather biased review of this unit.

Main reason why people (For me at least) bought Jackery solar generators, was marketing and awareness. I use mine for remote astrophotography. Previously had DIY. 2, 12V, 12 AH AGM batteries in a cooler, with cig outlets, and binding posts. Saw ad, and researched other amateur astro photographers. Jackery was and is mainly used. Only after stumbling on your, and HOBOTEC, did I become so aware of BLuetti. Had I known, I would have bought there's. I'm also doing this in sub 10 degree F Temps. And Hiking in cold open fields half the time with some gear. So was concerned about temperature issues with LiFePO4. Seems it is good down to 0 F. I know I'm aware LiIon looses output in cold. A few hardwares in an insulated bag works.

Hello, you have a good channel with a lot of great information. How about a video on the best appliances, electronics, water treatment and air handling equipment to use on an off grid PV system in a cold climate (zone 6B)? Most solar channels talk about reducing loads and choosing energy efficient appliances, etc, but they never recommend specific brands - just "this size system will provide this much power". For example, I'm building a small (550 sq') near passive cabin out in the middle of nowhere and I'm considering a Hotspot DC mini-split, a DC fridge, an induction cooktop and a Sanco2 heat pump water heater. Then there's the issue of well pumps, water purification, an ERV, a dehumidifier, a freezer - the list seems endless. I'm curious as to what would you recommend?
@ryansoo4000
@ryansoo4000 Жыл бұрын
@@Channel-gz9hm Thank you for your reply. That's good information to have. The problem with choosing solar equipment is that everyone says that their product is the best but you don't know how it will work in a system with other components. For example, lots of people say that induction range tops are the most energy efficient products for cooking (as well as safer in that they produce a lot less harmful cooking byproducts like CO2) but others say you could never run one off of a solar PV system. If you were going to head out into the wilderness and build a small, off grid homestead what products/systems would you choose?

Just something i have noticed about that heat gun because i have the same one is that it causes the lights in my house to flicker that are on the same half of the electric panel. The flickering gets worse when the heat output is raised and no flicker on high. I took it appart and found the heating element is controlled by a circuit board. This heat gun definitely seems to have dirty power use that might be the cause for the inaccurate reading not sure. Just figured i would let you know because you use that heat gun alot and maybe something to test and keep in mind.

I have the smaller Bluetti EB3A, I think it's a really nice unit for what it is. 200W solar input and 600W AC out. I'll take the lower capacity of LFP cells any day. Those cylindricals should last forever. I like that the EB3A has a UPS mode, not a lot of those small units do. The EB3A can charge near 2C in boost mode, otherwise it's like 0.75C. And, it's usually on sale for only $220. Only thing I don't like is no storage for cables, and the PWM on the cooling fan is reallllly bad. It's a very wide square wave. Should have just used linear voltage control.

@@Vibe77Guy So what I'm doing is charging up a 12V Chins battery on a 300W array, then I just top off the bluetti overnight using the DC input jack. Don't those 12V cigarette-lighter adapters just unscrew from the tip to access the fuse? At least 2 of mine did.

Is this a good buy for $350? I just need a backup for CPAP when the power goes out. And I don't have any solar panels or anything. I would just plug it in to charge. Run it off the car in case of emergency. Eventually, I might get a solar panel but I don't camp

Hi Will, if you only have a couple of 100Ah batteries, how can you create a clean rack solution? That also has room for the charger and inverter?

I am curious if one array of solar panels could be used by two different Solar Charge Controllers at the same time? One is 24V battery setup with 24V SCC. The other is a 12V battery setup with its own 12V SCC. It just happens that I have two setup and I hate switching a switch between the two.

For those of us who cannot grasp a lot of your video evaluation, many of use bought a Jackery because so many others say they are good. So thanks for making me feel like poop. As penance, you should do shirtless videos.

I wish the smaller power stations would accept more than 200watt of solar I use a 100ah power queen 12.8v battery with a 12v - 24v 10amp converter to shoot 199 watts into my EcoFlow river to give myself a 1500wh system.
