Season 05, Episode 03: thank you so much to ‪@aspensnowmass‬ for hooking it up with an incredible couple days here in aspen! we woke up to a few inches of fresh snow and had the opportunity to get up on the mountain before it opened with first tracks! we did two laps before 9am and then had the rest of the day and what feels like the mountain, to ourselves! we checked off a little bit of everything from glades, to groomers and even some moguls! the dust on crust was incredible to ski and we ended the day with a joyous hottub and apres! thank you aspen snowmass!

Dear Aspensnowmass, I learned how to ski @ Snowmass! Long ago!! And we skied here many happy years! Watching Lucas traverse the mountains of Snowmass brought back the happiest memories from Elk Camp, to Alpine Springs (Naked lady 😂!!), up to High Alpine, over & up the Big Burn, Sheer Bliss (my husband took me there on my 2nd day of skiing!!), Sam’s Knob, etc. We used to have the best breakfasts & lunches Z@ Gwyn’s High Alpine Restaurant, fine dining @ 12,000 ft.? Seeing the names of all the chairlifts & trails Lucas was on, made me remember the best of times!! Thank you for being so good to Lucas, he deserves it! Such a fabulous skier, yet so humble and joyous whatever he does! 🙌🏼⛷️🌟🎿🥳❤️

I worked at snowmass in 1992-1993 up at Gwynn’s High Alpine. Rode the lift up with ski patrol every day and absolutely loved it. Great runs and a lot of fun. Still snowbird is still my favorite but still loving all those ski days I got while living in aspen.

I always love watching you ski, Lucas, & really love this Snowmass video! My husband taught me how to ski there a long time ago! He was a heart surgeon & there was a Cardiac meeting every January there. It was like a dream come true to hit those trails all day long, & try to find a way to stay warm! I remember how frozen my fingers & toes would get!! 🥶 We stayed on the slopes & the hot tub was so great! I’m glad you’re have fun with Miss T! 🥂⛷️🥰❤❤

Grew up on this mountain, this is my home mountain. I was born In glenwood springs but sunlight was difficult for me to learn on due to the fast lifts, but Snowmass had the slow lifts that came in very slow! This is the mountain I learned on from greens to double blacks I will always love Snowmass 😍😍 best mountain in the roaring fork valley hands down ! I love all 5 resorts in the valley ofc but Snowmass is very special!

Wow! I should have hit that Alpine and Elk side. Did hit the Big Burn runs Sunday, and the blacks on Sam's Knob Monday were much better pow runs, be they cut up by the time I got to them. Long runs. Much more filled in, especially moguls, than A-Basin and Copper are at the moment. Glad I upgraded my IKON pass. Already, got my money's worth. But Alta & Snowbird coming up in a week! Save me some pow!!

question Lucas! 1) your gopro.. in that cold.. my battery in my hero 9 lasts 5-6 minutes. what do you do? battery out.. in pocket with a heat pod? multiple batteries? 2) I have WW 121. How would you compare them to 116? one stiffer? what makes you go, "snow blower vs Mega snowblower?" Also Aspen looks sick. Gonna have to check Colorado out.

1) i dont keep a heat pod or anything like that. i bring 2 extra batteries with me, so i have 3 total. but yeah definitely keep it warm when you arent using it. 2) the 121 is a lot softer than the 116. the 116 is much stiffer and has more edge, more camber, less rocker etc. the 183cm is very short for me. thats the main reason why i dont use those skis more. im 5'10" and really desire a 192cm ski, especially one with as much rocker as the 121.

hell yeah. snow looks good and plenty on the way. ill be out there after utah in a week or so. i cant really afford the hotels at aspen. going to stay with a friend but usually stay in glenwood springs about 45 minutes away from a few snow resorts. get a good weekly rate for like 230 bucks (i guess a lot more now around 500+200 deposit). defenitely going to hit up snowmass, highlands, and copper mountain while i am up there. damn still looks like a lot of the blacks and extreme runs are closed at snowmass.

My best day of skiing last year was 3-4 inches of Pow on the groomers with nobody around. My kids were able to ski it without sinking in and it was a lot of fun. Sick day at snowmass, glad they got some snow for you.

How would y'all rate the Utah places (aside from Park City and DV) compared to some of the popular Colorado resorts? For example Snowmass, Snowbird and Alta, etc? I live in the southeast, I only get to go once every two years. And have always gone to Colorado (Breck, Keystone, Copper and Arapahoe). Thanks!

I forgot how beautiful Aspen is.. My one and only time skiing it was after Easter 2002.. It was the last time that I was in Colorado until I moved to Denver 4-2-2021.. I did have a pair of shaped skis back then but they were my race skis so I didn't bring them out.. My first run I skied with this older and taller guy that was on long shaped skis.. We did some groomers until the snow softened up.. I could keep up with him on the straights but when we had to turn off on a cat track I would lose all my speed and he would keep all of his.. After that I bought some shaped skis to use out here.. I am pretty sure that I skied 2 of the mountains and the other 2 were closed for the season.. I talked to a local when I got there and they said to negotiate the price of a room.. So my first night was like $79 second $69 third $59.. I think I paid like $80 for the demo shaped skis.. I still have them;) Aspen of all places.. In the summer of 2007 I did drive out to Aspen from Leadville, CO and I dropped off my resume at the Hospital.. I was dressed in a killer business suit.. The guy that interviewed me came out in cowboy boots and a leather vest.. He said "Son you are over dressed." My car did die and police officer with a big bumper on their SUV pushed me off to the side.. I did get it running and was able to leave.. I ate in a restaurant and did have a snooty waiter that was more focused on the rich people than me.. Besides that my experience was amazing..
