Great vid there chaps! We just got back and had good rides down from the gondola mid station, exiting the trees along side the other gondola. Awesome territory

Hi, I am going to Nozawa Onsen at the end of the year, Can you please tell me what temperature it was on the mountain and what you think the best gloves or mittens would be to wear. Thanks, Ned

Ned Anderson it really depends when you go. It can get quite cold in Japan. I swap between a shell with layers on blue sky days to my very warm puffer down jacket when temperatures really drop. It can get to down to -20°c with wind chill. As for gloves, again I take a few pairs depending on the time of the season and how cold the temp is. My go to gloves in winter are my Burton gortex gloves. In the end, everyone feels temperatures differently, I like the cold and don't feel it too much, my gf freezes so layers up far more than I ever could!

How did you get to that run at 6:56 that's soo sick and I completely missed it when I was there 2 years ago. Have to say it was a pretty terrible season but still.. Looks epic!

It ends at the green 38 or something right?

Hey Bart, that's dropping in from Raccoon Ridge. You go up the top of Yamabiko-C chairlift, then duck under the ropes and ride along the ridge. If you are unsure where to go, you'll usually see a few people doing it. Have to be careful, you don't want to be dropping to the left or it's a very very long walk out. Ride along the ridge and drop in basically anywhere you please. This is un-patrolled and can be prone to avalanche, so be careful. It pops you out at the top of Green 35. Enjoy!
Hey mate. We are off to Japan in a month. Do you recommend staying at nozowa or some where central to all the mountains? Have snow boarded loads in Canada but never in Japan and unsure where to start!!

Hi mate, I don't usually move around resorts, so staying at one mountain suits me. I guess it's up to personal preference as to where you base yourself. Nozawa is a lovely, traditional village. There's plenty of resorts accessible from there in under 90 minutes by car. Have a chat to Nozawa Holidays, Mark and his team will look after you.

I would recommend Shiga Kogen, massive ski area and you can access many other resorts, Nozawa, Madarao, Myoko and Hakuba by catching a day bus. But Shiga Kogen will keep you busy for a week, it's the biggest in Japan. I find Nozawa ok for 3 or 4 days max.
