These guys are truely the greatest rock band of the early 2000s that never got the attention they deserved. True aussie gold out of Brisbane the heart of Australian rock&roll. Check out Violent soho they are a more grungy band from Brisbane you will definitely love. They came in the 2010s after powderfinger and took up the mantle of most underapreciated band in the world

I grew up in Brisbane and I always found that Powderfinger’s lyrics did a great job of subtly conjuring imagery of the city and what it was like living in the suburbs. The tapping of the rain beating a corrugated drum is very much a Brisbane suburbs reference that anyone who lived there would recognise.

I don't know how they aren't rated as good internationally as other bands, a kick ass drummer, two guitarists who switch from lead to rhythm so well between them, killer bass, and Bernard's vocals, the song writing, all together as good as anything from other groups touted as the best of their time - including oasis, U2, inxs and countless others

Met one of the band members at our home town casino one night,,had great time talking and having a couple beers with him,,I asked him as the Wiggles sold more albums then Powderfinger,,and we just laughed,,then me and he and his brother and miss's went back to he's apartment and drank american budwise beers,then he invited me to gig the next night and told me I could drink more beers on the house at he's expense,,I'll never forget that night,what a down to earth human,,and he phoned he's American girl up to talk to us WOW 🤙😎

I am Brisbane born. I have a mate who is a great musician and his band supported some great acts in the 80s. Anyway somewhere around the early 90s his band was playing a pub in Brisbane's Spring Hill. Their support act arrived, some scruffy uni students in a band called, yes, Powderfinger. Anyway my mate's band broke up, he did and does music as a hobby and Powderfinger did okay!

Powderfinger had a chance to break in the USA. Unfortunately they arrived just before 9/11. Which completely ruined the tour they had planned. They returned to Australia when they could and settled into touring around Australia. Not quite the same but Cold Chisel went to the USA around the time they released East. Problem with the Record Executive that was supposed to take care of them. Cold Chisel got passed off returned to Australia and wrote ‘You Got Nothing I Want’ about their experience.

I'm an Aussie. I love most of our he grown stuff, but can't stand Powderfinger. It's like listening to moaning to music. There are much better Aussie bands out there. The Angels, Matt Finish, Divinals, even Redgum are better.
