Just got this deck today! Ace 66 trucks, 58mm bones wheels in 84b, and Bronson raws. Never skated one of these old school shapes before, but I think it's gonna be a fun park/transition board. It felt great today!

This deck is actually closer to the Blind: Video Days era.... but with a slightly larger nose. Not to take anything away from Steve, but it reminds me of a Gonz deck shape from that time. I highly recommend this Cab deck.

What size of indys do you recommend for this deck? 169?
@idmhead01602 жыл бұрын
I just ordered the Flight deck version of this deck last night. Will hopefully have it in another week. I was looking at the large version of the graphic on Powell's website. It looks like although the board is 9.265 wide at the widest part, where the axles/wheels are, it is narrower. I was wondering the same thing as you. I have other old school decks and found that 159s work well. I guess it depends on if you want the wheels to stick out at all. It also depends on what wheels you pair with it. I normally like 159s even with an 8.5 deck if it is normal narrow modern skate wheels. The axle might stick out a smidge, but, the edge of the wheels line right up with the edge of the deck. If you get old school wheels like Rat Bones, they add an extra 1/4" inch to the width. I have some Rat Bones with Indy 144s on a 8.5" Mini Logo deck and found that they line up well. I'm going to try 159s first. I already have a set. If they look to narrow, I'll get some 169s. I'm pretty sure 159s are best though. Judging by the image and the fact that I don't want the wheels overhanging the deck.

HEY POWELL PERALTA, HAPPY NEW YEAR AND ALL, WHICH BOARD IS MOST LIKE THE 89,-90 TONEY HAWK PICTOGRAM SHAPE?

The Vallely Barnyard or the Vision Double Vision. Both are blocky and proto-popsicle. You can get reissues and / or tributes to them from time to time.
@zamir46184 жыл бұрын
@@faunaflage yeah, according to paul Schmitt the barnyard was made on the vision double vision mold. I dont think mike v will make anymore barnyards but a double vision can be had for about 75 bucks. A fake pictogram goes for about $200 on ebay. That toe knee hawk pow well per alta board was my favorite

This is a cool skateboard that Powell makes with the old graphic but it isn't the same as the actual shape of the Ban This Caballero in 1989. That deck has a far more fish tail shape and nose. Still, honestly, this newer deck is much better for street to be honest whilst the old board was really a product of the vert era. You made it look very graceful here though. :)

if you guys made this shape in an affordable price range like the rest of your non flight/reissue boards it would sell so well. the shape is so sick and rivals many current shapes out there but the £90-100 price range in the uk makes it literally not worth buying! perhaps something to consider in the future? i tried the cab flight deck with the similar shape and size and it was fun but the price tag just makes me stick to other brands im afraid. PP still rules though
@idmhead01602 жыл бұрын
I agree. The pricing on any Maple deck that isn't a Popsicle is $84. $110 for the Flight deck version. Popsicle is $50. A slightly different shape shouldn't have such a premium IMHO. Even the Andy Anderson deck that was Maple was only $5 less than the Flight deck version.

Do you have any idea how expensive skateboards were in the 70s and 80s ? A complete board was around a week's wages . A pair of Vans was £55 when i was earning £120 pw . Do you own computers ? Games consoles ? Smart phones ? Brand name clothes ? Stop complaining ; modern skateboards are cheaper than they have ever been .
