Drive chain on the left for diy is actually really good idea. If something goes bad on either side of the bike, the other side is still functional and will bring you back home. I am assuming the rear tire is still easy to remove for flats.

Well thought through build! I'm looking forward to see how full suspension one is going to look like. Two things that would be my concerns are pedal spacing and lack of torque sensor.

220mm rotor on the rear is rather extreme! I cannot reach the limits of my 180mm and a similar weight setup.

It’s needed in some way due to the combined sprocket. I have barely touched it. The regen is pretty good

Not really relevant to this project, but I’m wondering about more aerodynamic set-ups for pure road use. Filippo Ganna who is the world hour record holder and a pretty big guy (6’4” and 88kg) released his power numbers for his warm up recon on a time trial stage in the Giro d’Italia and was able to achieve 25mph average on a twisty circuit on just 240 watts. Whilst his position is a bit extreme for everyday use, it does highlight just what can be done with an aero bike set-up and, much more importantly, an aero position for the rider. There are obvious speed and range advantages in being able to get more speed from a given wattage and, given the enhanced speeds of e-bikes (assuming they’re not stuck with the 15.5 mph limit in some jurisdictions), it seems worth exploring a more aero e-bike project. Are you aware of anyone who has done that?

Hey Anthony. Not sure how I missed this. Any kind of aero stuff will help greatly especially at lower power. Wind resistance is the biggest killer at higher speeds. Cheers

You could set it to 250 watts if. Needed and limit the speed. Then unlock off-road. Although that’s probably a grey area

@@Stoptherideiwanttogetoffit’s a bit of a grey area. Law is a limit of 250W “continuous” power but continuous doesn’t seem well defined and all the big manufacturers have e-bikes being sold that produce well over 250W peak.
