Excellent tutorial, Deepak! Almost exactly what I’ve been looking for. We use DocSets extensively in our company, & the reduced feature set in SPO has been frustrating & cumbersome. I figured the solution would be in PowerApps, but have been unable to explore (learning & applying dynamic array formulas in Excel has been much higher priority 🙂). Your tutorial will help immensely. Thank you. I like your approach connecting document sets (projects) and a task list. How complicated would it be if I have one task list but multiple libraries with each having multiple document sets? I'm not sure how I would be able to create a lookup column to multiple libraries. I don't think it would be efficient to create a task list per library, especially when I have over 25 libraries. any thoughts?

I followed this exactly and my new form looks wonderful when I look at properties but when I try to add a new document set I always get this error "The requested operation is invalid. Hi Deepak, This is very nice and useful video. But i have one doubt. In Document set, Name field is mandatory and i can not able to edit it in powerapp form, How you have managed it? Without having the data in Name column, it is not possible to save the data.

Hi Koti, Thanks for the comments. one method(manual) is to create a Folder and update the content type to "Document Set" after it creates. or the second method (automated) is to use "Flow." When you submit the new form from Power Apps, we can call a flow instead of "submit form" and pass "Title" as Name. action that you should use in flow - first, you create folder-> then you will update properties (update content type from folder to document set)

Thanks for watching. You need to add logic to the app to save a new item/update an existing item. this will be simple submit form. I did not cover it in this video.

In your video you show how to add a button to the SharePoint list with JSON that will put you into edit mode on the Document Set properties. How do you do the same thing with a button, but go into Display (or View) mode of the Document Set properties. Currently on the item, if I click the Ellipsis-->More-->Properties, I get into view mode, and at the top I see the "Edit All" button. I want this same functionality with the button, instead of going into edit mode. Is this possible? I am guessing it is a different "Action" in the JSON, but putting in defaultClick opens the document set to show the documents inside.

To view the item on button click use - "defaultClick" in place of "editProps"

@@DeepakShrivastava Thanks for the reply, but that doesn’t work on a document set, the default action of clicking a document set is opening it. So using your example actually just opens the document set and displays the documents inside and doesn’t show the properties of the document set. That’s for the great content!

Thanks for sharing! Were you able to use the customized PowerApps form to create a new document set directly? I always got an error when clicking on "Save" button. And Microsoft support engineer said PowerApps form can only be used for editing the metadata, not creating a new document set. If you can provide more information that will be very helpful! Thanks!

Thanks for watching. You can do it. Doc Set is nothing but a folder. So you can start an approval flow on that, but approval will be on doc set, not on individual documents.

@@DeepakShrivastava I was actually looking for this as well. Thank you for sharing the ideas. Create a new document set is a nightmare in PowerApps. I dont know why Microsoft is so far behind on this. With Nintex form, you could just create a document set right on the form.
