Adding that valve will be a nice addition to the 1750. Please follow through with adding the third line, for your safety, and it would be great information for your viewers. That particular valve can be set up for closed center, open center, and open center power beyond, by adding the correct large plug to the side of the valve, and plumbing it correctly. When a open center valve is installed between a pump without power beyond, and another load such as the hitch, and remotes in this case, without isolating the pressure through the use of a power beyond plug pressure will be applied to the fragile part of the valve and can result in rupturing the valve body and result in bad things! By adding the power beyond plug to the valve it isolates the high pressure to the center port that was designed for high pressure. Enjoy watching you work, while career experience memories keep coming back.

It is a nice valve. My Gehl skid steer uses a Gresen and it has a power beyond port and a return port, so that made adding an electric over hydraulic valve pretty easy. Now I have a grapple bucket for that, making it even more useful.

Chris, I had an old IHC 706 Farmall, it had 2 sets of couplers 1 on each side under the side panels just for loader work. IHC was smart when they made a bracket that mounted in front of the radiator grill. It acted like a 3rd link arm so, when loader wasn't needed, just unhook connectors, loader rested to that 3rd link arm, allowing use of the hyd. couplers on the tractor. Now, if one forgot to unhook... it reminded you real quick. Other drawback is, if you did forget to unhook hoses... loader worked just fine, implement didn't though. LOL Now, one thing I would suggest you do, get some belting or an old fire hose, fasten it to the lower bracket arm, your hoses are and will rub on that and you'll be replacing those hoses sooner than you might think. Don't ask me how I know this... just sayin. LOL Great video as always, cheers :)

For tough to remove pipe plugs, the best trick I found was to use a socket bit for air hammers. Harbor Freight sku 59495. Small amount of air impact combined with a 3/4 wrench turning does the trick. Also worked on a tough to get out excavator cylinder cap bolts.

Great job of fabricating Chris. One question why not use a solenoid control valve and mount your joy stick on the arm rest. Make for cleaner appearance because valve could be mounted on frame, and you would be able to run loader like flying your drone.
@ThatOliverGuyChris
@ThatOliverGuyChris Ай бұрын
Thanks! I was able to pick this valve up cheap from eBay earlier this year. If it was a cab tractor, I'd definitely be doing a solenoid version. I just now did some quick online shopping and was surprised to see electric over hydraulic is not that much more than manual joystick, at least for a non proportional style valve.

Hi Chris, I have a few questions and if you answer i would be much obliged😁. I have a 1750 special with 1 set of hydraulic remotes, what would it take to get a second plumbed up? This question sort of branches in with my other question, would a 1800A's hydraulic system fit or just some of the parts? Lastly would most of a 1800A's components fit a 1750? ( Things like the hydra power,front end, transmission,and sheet metal ) I bet you would of appreciated a plasma cutter for cutting in that project 😁.
@ThatOliverGuyChris
@ThatOliverGuyChris Ай бұрын
The easiest solution is to get another cover with both valves already in it. They changed where some of the ports go from the hydraulic unit into that cover, so the cover from an 1800A will not work. You could switch the whole hydraulic unit, but you'd be going backwards. The 1800A pump is no longer available, and it is specific because the relief valve is mounted to the back side of the pump. There will be a casting number in the top cover, get another one with that same part number. Most have both valves already in them. You'll also need another lever and the arm that goes on the inside of the unit. I've got a video of working on the 2050 from early this year replacing the hydraulic pump, and I resealed the levers and had the cover off in that video. It will give you an idea of what to expect. The rear fenders will swap, and most of the sheet metal will fit, but none of the holes in the hood will line up between those two. The hydra power will swap between the 2 tractors, so will the front axle. The engines will bolt right in to either tractor. The transmission is almost totally different between them . Tractor pullers like the A series transmission because it is built lighter and can help get their weight down. I've got a friend with a CNC plasma table. I should have gotten ahold of him, maybe the next project.

Also I can stock pile some part inventory.👍

@ThatOliverGuyChris Ай бұрын
Glad to help. A lot of the parts from an 1800A are worth more than scrap if a guy wants to take the time to sell it that way. Actually, most good ones are worth more as parts than they are whole. It gets some guys wound up, but they don't complain when they need those parts.

You've made a left side entry only tractor and put a bunch of stuff in the way of engine maintenance. What was your thinking in not using the open space on your right fender? Out of the way, still to hand, and much shorter hoses.
@ThatOliverGuyChris
@ThatOliverGuyChris Ай бұрын
My radio is on the right fender, and mounting a valve there just leads to a beat up fender. The hoses going to it from the tractor would be shorter, but then the ones going to the loader would be longer, and there's 4 of those. I really don't get on the right side of any of my tractors, so that's a non issue to me. As to engine maintenance, the loader frame starts at the rear of the engine, so the valve won't be in the way. I use the throttle quite a bit when picking up round bales, throttling down when using the clutch and revving up for loader and ground speed. The throttle and loader controls are now side by side, and that's definitely going to be nice. I personally can't stand seeing a loader valve bolted to a fender, hoses everywhere, and it just looks lazy.

That brings back memories. BTW, you can hook that lower reservoir hose up with the oil level still up to normal. Hook your shop vac to the fill tube, duct tape makes a good adapter, turn the vac on and when you pull the plug out the vac will suck air in through the plug you just took out and you can hook your lines up without spillage. I laugh at your using the term "Inverted flare," or "Inverted plug." Back in the old sexist days, we called them female fittings, plugs, and anything that you stuck something into, well, your imagination can figure that out. That was back in the day when shop calendars from Snap-On and others came with naked or nearly naked gals on them. Women who came into the shop just laughed at the "Dirty ole mechanics." We usually were dirty and oily as we did not have those sissy rubber gloves, pig mats, and other necessities to come out at the end of the day clean. We usually had a shop towel hanging from our hip pockets to wipe our hands if we had to handle manuals or shake hands with customers who had free roam of the shop. Pant legs were the best place to semi-wipe hands or your shirt. We did have a clean uniform for each day. An Oliver patch over one shirt pocket and our name over the other pocket. Great Sunday morning video. Thanks for reminding me that I have an MD appointment on Monday, or is it Tuesday? Old memory cells only remember what was 60 years ago. It is a 120-mile round trip, but at least we can take a couple 5 gallon containers with us, go over the bridge into KY, and get $2.00 a gallon gasoline which is much better than the $2.98 it is here.
@ThatOliverGuyChris
@ThatOliverGuyChris Ай бұрын
I've done the vacuum trick before. It worked great on the combine, but last time I tried it on an Oliver, the vac picked up some oil. The inside of the vac hose was coated with oil, which got heavy with everything else that stuck in there for quite some time afterwards. I guess my shop vac was like those girls on the snap-on calendar.

@rosstheoliverman
@rosstheoliverman Ай бұрын
@@AnglesideFarm I put a joystick valve on a John Deere one time and you need to make sure that you have the right valve for that application or it won’t lift any weight. I can’t remember now if it was open center or close center but if you use a cross valve usually you can get a plug to swap it out to one or the other. They also don’t have any good place to return it, so you have to drill and tap into the filter housing. They actually made an updated filter housing with a port, but good luck finding one of those.

@AnglesideFarm there's a way to plumb in a power beyond on those models, but from what I understand, it's a little more complicated than on an Oliver. If you don't do it right the pump doesn't work right. It would definitely be a good way to free up your remote and probably improve loader function. I'll see what I figure out.
