Fun fact: The person who redesigned Power Blazer into Power Blade (and made it vastly superior in the process) was former Nintendo Power editor Randy Studdard, who's also known for creating the Captain Nintendo character that was later adapted into Captain N: The Game Master. He named Power Blade's new hero Nova after his brother.

Mike Winterbauer did the cover art for Power Blade, which was based off a photo of himself.

Power Blade is an A+ game! Awesome gameplay and music, superb graphics and environments, and a difficulty level that makes it beatable without having to retry every stage thirty times. I prefer this even to the Mega Man games because I prefer one-hit kills, as in Shinobi, Rolling Thunder, Code Name Viper, etc. They put a lot of time and effort into this one. The sequel is very good and well-made but lacks the brilliant environments of the first game. All those underground corridors all start looking the same after a bit. I wish I'd had Power Blade when I was a boy!

Very nice! I just recently watched a friend play through both of these games, and if they had a lower price tag, I would've bought them a long time ago to try out myself. Can I remind you how much I love what you're doing here? Please keep these coming!

Just finished Power Blade, now working on 2. Sucks they dropped the grenades in the second. Quite a bit darker and more gloomy than the first entrys bright open air areas. Harder too I'm finding out😅 Love the reviews! Second time watching and enjoyed as much as the first viewing 👍

It's pretty interesting how the original Japanese version is quite different from the western release, but then they went ahead and based the sequel specifically on the western version. Nice video! (As for Taito pronunciation, it's the latter one)

I believe it's pronounced Tie-Toe but who am I to say. The cover was drawn by Mike Winterbauer. He took a photo of himself holding a T- Square and used that as the inspiration. Supposedly Schwarzenegger's lawyers thought he copied the Terminator and threatened to sue him. They wanted to know what he used as the source and when he showed them the photo the case was dropped.

I've always wanted to play these games, and the Taito Flintstones and Jetsons games too, but holy hamburgers is Taito and NES an expensive combination. Hopefully, these will end up on the NES Online App on Switch

Yes! They are pricey. I do have the Jetsons game, lucky me. The others? Maybe never.

The first Power Blade is really great, I didn't like the second one that much, maybe because of its darker graphics or its annoying enemies. I didn't know the stages were supposed to be sorted by difficulty, I always found the 6th stage (the city) much easier than the 2nd stage (the dam) and the 5th stage (the ship) much easier than the 4th (the, um, sky one, I don't know what that is). I like the music a lot, in fact the composer for this game (actually for the japanese Power Blaze as the music was left intact) is Kinuyo Yamashita, the composer for the first Castlevania game.

I've just solved the mystery of pronouncing Taito! You show an ad in this video with the pun "Catch the Taito wave!" Obviously Taito is supposed to rhyme with tidal; this must mean Taito is pronounced "tie-to"; it doesn't work if you pronounce it "tay-to".
