The LED has no rectifying diode. In short the LED will dim or blow off.

A rectifier diode (1N4007) should be connected in series with the LED along with the dropping resistance, only then your LED will last for a long time, because an LED is a DC component with a PN junction and so it needs a rectified AC which is rectified by the 1N4007 plus your voltage dropping resistor. For example : Line voltage minus ( led voltage plus diode voltage) 230 - (1.8 + 0.7) = 227.5 227.5 ÷ 0.02 = 11.375 ohms 0.02 ( 20 ma ) is the current needed to drive the LED 11.375 ohms is irregular value of the resistor. The standard value is 12 kilo ohms. So 227.5 ÷ 12 k ohms gives 0.0189583333 Amps which when converted is 18.95 mA, that gives us the safe value to drive the LED for a long time until voltage fluctuations damages the LED. I think this is enough working theory and procedures for you. Love from Mumbai ❤

@@Joker-sm7ji I have done radio engineering in 1982. So every little current and voltage drop should be respected. You should should not leave any room for plus/minus in calculations. Resistor are already marked with percentages of the values. For example standard resistor of 220 ohms with percentage of +/- 5% is 231 ohms or 209 ohms. Check this out with a True RMS Multimeter.
