After i managed to change the home button in mine (thanks to your excellent video!), i just ordered the sleep-button&proximity assembly to fix my bro's iPhone. May the gods be with me, because this looks even harder!

Thank god for your tutorial! I had to use Assistive touch all the time which was driving me crazy :-) Just finished the repair and it took me about 3,5h but it was worth it. Even though the Proximity sensor isn't working anymore for some reason (yes, I have transfered the tiny rubber thing to the new cable), I'm really happy to have a functioning power button. Shame on Apple for making so unreliable components and not enabling an easy fix if it fails, so you literally have to take the whole iPhone apart... One advise: if you have a glass table, buy one of those "White board markers", put the screws on the table and mark the screws, it's really helpful and you can't forget to insert any screws.

Thank you so much, I just fixed my phone following your tutorial! everything works perfectly as new :) Took me 135 min Hints for those attempting to do it: 1- If you don't have the magmat, at least print it on A4 (big help) 2- Magnetize the tip of your screwdrivers, will keep those tiny screws from falling 3- Assembling it back takes much more time than taking it apart so be prepared to spend a lot of time (don't get frustrated and push things if they don't align) 4- Take your time, have lots of light, use the right tools, and watch the video in 1080p! Good luck,

What was wrong with yours, was it the lock button stuck and did you buy the mag mat or did you just print the a4 page off ?

the little piece at the end of the video that you put over the sensor, do you sell that replacement part? I bought a used iPhone 4 with non functioning proximity so I took apart to find that was missing.

Thank you for this video.. When I got my replacement power button/light sensor button I thought it can't be that, that's the problem.. However, I have just followed your tutorial and it's worked a treat.. Took me 3 hours in total to strip replace and rebuild the phone.. I didn't think that was that bad as I have never stripped an iphone in my life.. This video would be sooooo much better if you showed the rebuild.. Took me forever trying to do it in reverse..

I successfully fixed my power button thanks to this video. I only had two extra parts that I don't know where they came from. One tiny washer and a rubber piece that looks like it was to protect something. Other than that it's working fine. It took me a whole lot longer than the 50 minutes. By the way I didn't use the tools used in this video which I should of used. The screw driver that I bought was not pointy enough to get to some screws so this is what took me the longest. Thanks for the video.
@CooleKip19 жыл бұрын
Angel Lopez, Jr The washer sits on one of the six screws that are holding the lcd/digitizer assembly on the side, and the rubber piece sits on the top of the motherboard, underneath the wifi bridge.

Okey yeah i noticed that before. I suppose on some brands of screens that would be an problem. And if not carefull it would also pose an problem. Do you know of the light sensor is the same sensor as the proximity sensor? I had an replica screen installed on my iphone and proximity does not work. But the IR diod lights up and the light sensor that adjusts brightness works. Is that the same flex cable that does that? i would suppose it is.

Hello, thought i could help, go into settings > general > aceccesiblity, and turn on assistive touch. It should be a white circle button that you can move around on the screen. Tap that button and then tap the option "device", There should be an option saying "lock screen" tap and hold that, and it should come up with the slide to turn off.

i just bought the iphone Power switch (the physical one), but now i'm wondering.. do i need to buy that sensor too? Or do I only need to follow these steps until I can replace the physical switch, not even touching the Proximity sensor ribbon? I'm afraid I might fuck this up. Thank you!
@iPhoneRepairMia12 жыл бұрын
You can replace the flex without taking the front screen off but it is much safe top take it off. If you do not take the front screen off you can damage the lcd and digitizer flex cable because in order to unscrew the power button bracket you have to bend them a lot. So we prefer to take the screen off when we do this repair.

One tip for people replacing the button: They use A LOT of adhesives (glue) to secure the screen the frame, so if Step 18 seems hard, IT IS. Just keep at it until the adhesive (which they applied around the area surrounding the home button, and the front facing camera) lets go and you can remove the screen as easily as they show on the video! Also, don't stick the metal pry tool too deeply on the side of the phone, or you might scratch the back part of the glass! Good Luck!

So i was able to successfully fix my power button, BUT while putting it back together, I damaged the display flex cable and had to order a whole new display because of it. Went on to replace the display and now I'm having weird issues. The display won't work, but when I plug in the USB cable and connect to the computer, it keeps vibrating, indicating that it's connected to the computer. It basically keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. I'm guessing it's some sort of grounding issue? Any ideas?
@madesimple12 жыл бұрын
My sleep button wasn't working at all, so i bought a power button flex cable to replace it. There are two things to keep in mind. First, step 18, focus on detaching screen from the home button and the lock button side first because there is glue there. Second, make sure the motherboard is fit in snugged before moving on. You shouldn't need to force the mother board in. If you attempt to force it in and it's sticking out, you can't put the cover back on.
