0:17 made me laugh a lot harder than I'd care to explain This is a great topic: I always tell newcomers to my university's kendo club that we're not trying to bludgeon people to death (and if we were, it wouldn't be kendo).

People always want to do strong and fast kendo before correct. I think we make the biggest progress when we understand that is ok to get hit and learning to do things slow helps us be faster.

This is something I'm working on a lot. Being more effective with my strikes, trying to eliminate all unnecessary movements. I've really seen the gap of difference in this in a recent seminar.

So true. I've been lucky enough to have been hit by a Japanese national team member. I could barely feel his kote strikes but they were lightning fast and on target.

I have a guy in our dojo who has the "warrior spirit ' " from the armed services yet in my opinion lacks a kendo understanding.

If it makes you feel better I was the one receiving the hit, but actually it didn’t hurt I took that footage testing a bogu set from kendo star that is s”uper protective “ and I was totally fine!
