I started at 1900 so I have no idea why I keep seeing videos from 5 to 12 months ago of people with 1750-1850

How much does it matter? Like, how big of a difference is it from like 1770-1780 base power to 1810 (pinnacle). I’m already out dpsing everyone I play with, even 1810-1820’s. I just wanna know how much more damage I’ll expect to see.

destiny is an interesting one. to simplify i will explain it like this.... every activity in the game has a power level requirement. the activities you have been doing have a low one. so both you and the people you mention are actually at the same "level"... because you both meet the threshold. HOWEVER, if you try to actives with a HIGHER THRESHOLD... not only will you do highly reduced damage, but you will take an insane amount more damage as well. so whenever you see a power level requirement for an activity, view it instead as a "threshold" you NEED to hit to do that activity with some degree of comfort. hopefully this makes sense!

@@OrdinarySense that just made it more confusing. I just wanna know how much stronger you get from strictly power level. Like how much does your damage change from 1600 to 1810? And what do you mean by they’re the same level? They’re clearly 1820 with way better gear, stats, armor mods, guns, masterwork gear, etc. Literally everything is better. How are we still the same level if I’m 1780?

@ The math of how it affects damage output and damage resist. So many stats are completely unexplained of how they work in Destiny. Example: is a 2010 Scout rifle better than a 2005 Pulse rifle or is the 2005 pulse rifle actually better because it has better perks? Ilvl is easy to understand in WoW and the ilvl isn’t what affects your damage, it’s the stats of the item. In Destiny it’s just a number and you know that ”ok I be more power now”.

@@UWfalcin Destiny is pretty simple but sounds a little complicated. Basically, if you meet the power level requirement for an activity... any extra points above that requirement dont add any extra power. So if you met the level posted, you are good. thats the simplified version. The truth is.. for the vast majority thats how it works, but for the super high power level stuff it works like this... example activity power : 100 Your power: 80 You would do significantly less damage, like 50% if i recall. You also take way more damage. For every power level increase, it decreases your disadvantage. Going above the power would then increase your damage and you would take less damage... but in most of these activities... Raids challenge mode, Grandmaster nightfalls, Trials of Osiris... You would have to be a super grinder to get any significant power level above the requirement for the activity. so overall, for all low tier or mid tier activities... you get above the power requirement posted... it does nothing extra, you are doing the most damage possible. for high level end game activities... You can launch them 20 levels under the power level... but unless you are very good and have really good weapons... that wont be fun. every power level you increase towards the power level posted for the activities... it will be easier and easier, compared to the minimum. matching the power level will put you at even, doing your regular damage and not receiving extra damage. HOWEVER, grinding out bonus power through raw xp gained AND maxing out your pinnacle power will give you a chance to be above the power level of the activities and get some slight bonuses. IN GERNAL TO ACTUALLY to be and feel more powerful you need to unlock exotic armor and exotic weapons. they have perks and abilities that can make builds much more powerful. You create "builds" by synergizing your super, weapons, and exotics. getting purple weapons with elemental perks, solar, arc, void.. will help makes your feel even more powerful. and i do mean perks... every purple weapon will have 2 perks. I havent played in a while so i forget the names of them, but there is at least one for each element that synergizes super well with each super and abilities of that elemental type. thats proabbly enough for now haha hope this helps!
