In California medical power of attorney can become effective immediately. There is a box that you check off on the form to make it effective immediately

I took my CCA exam last year and missed my certification by “one” point , secondly I was diagnosed with breast cancer and now in remission. I plan to take my exam either this year or 2019.

Hi, thanks. What happens when a patient is being elderly/financial used and abused by the agent? But the agent has threatened the elderly person so badly that the elderly person is afraid to revoke the power of attorney? Can the court step in and revoke the power of attorney "against the will" of the elderly person who is afraid to do it themself, and give the power of attorney to a more trustworthy family member? An elderly person recently confided this information to me but she is scared to tell other people in fear of what this abusive person will do to her.

Check this out: this is from the California medical power of attorney form WHEN AGENT'S AUTHORITY BECOMES EFFECTIVE: My agent's authority becomes effective when my primary physician determines that I am unable to make my own health care decisions unless I mark the following box. If I mark this box , my agent's authority to make health care decisions for me takes effect immediately.

Maybe it’s different depending where you live but in my area you can either use your driver license/ state id to sign the documents or if you don’t have an id card then you would need two witnesses

Hi Kate, ate this rules only for the entity you work for or is it the norm in other hospitals to? Also did you have to take a coding test when you applied for a coder job and how did you do?

The rules for power attorney are nation-wide, especially with saving the documentation in the legal medical record. As far as coding, all of the coding positions I applied for did not make it to the point of receiving any contact from the HR recruiter or supervisor so I never got to the point of taking a coding test (I have no idea if taking a coding test is part of the application process).
