I will NEVER forget the midnight release for Halo 2. I was 14 and snuck out of my house while my mom was sleeping to walk to GameStop and waited with dozens of excited fans to pick up this Masterpiece. I even skipped school the following day to play it at my friend's. Those were the days

I remember seeing the Live logo on most of my games and wanted to try it but I was way too young to start on the original Xbox. I started early in the 360 lying to my parents saying I could play Rock Band with cousin meanwhile I’m playing Halo 3 online until 3 AM on school nights. Definitely not my smartest move but it was worth it

I think it’s because it’s not who does it first, it’s about who does it best. Golden Eye it was the first step & revolution for FPS, but Halo improved & make it even better. Plus multiplayer, & you know that they did it better than the other companies & developer when the terminology "Halo Killer" was used to refer FPS from competitors, to try & replicate the same kind of impact that halo had in that moment.

There are only three console FPS games that I think are excellent and belong in the gaming hall of fame - Goldeneye on N64, Halo:CE on Xbox, and COD:MW (2008). I'll never forget how I felt playing these games for the first time. These felt just as good as playing any of the great FPS games I played on PC - Counterstrike, HL2, Unreal Tournament, BF2, and Quake 3.

So many are so connected to the hardware, Microsoft knows that soon you'll have to say goodbye to the plastic, and it's going back to its roots, software, investing buying big gaming studios and making sure to rule the software (Games) once everything moves to the cloud. Viva XGP!

Great series but what made them think FPS wouldn't work on consoles they litterly just ignored goldeneye and perfect dark the second of which they now own...

Finally, someone objective. I've been enjoying this series but there are some glaring omissions and blatant BS in it. They act like they invented the FPS genre with halo. Maybe it's just poor editing but it's pretty jarring in an otherwise enjoyable doc.

@@54356776 they never said that on the episode. They said nobody had done it very well like MS did with halo, and that's true.

Frankly one shouldnt discount the role N64 and games like Goldeneye played in help making console FPS games mainstream. Goldeneye walked so games like Halo could run
