Cooking without power just got a lot more inexpensive and is very easy to do with the right stove and fuel combination.
In this video we are going to cook a variety of foods using a .35 cent stove that is readily available and easy safely indoors during those emergencies, power outages and even long term SHTF events.

You reminded me of a variation... tuna can with a rolled up strip of cardboard inside. Pour paraffin into can. Makes a hot burning candle with a cardboard wick.

Drill 3 equally spaced 9/64" holes in the bottom of a tuna can's outer rim. Stick 3 16 penny nails in the holes and you have a cheap pot stand. You can trim the nails for height. Works well with your small tins. Put some carbon felt or ceramic wool in the cans and they work better with liquid fuels. I like denatured alcohol.

I've made "penny stoves" that work really well. They're very easy to make, from a couple of empty soda cans. They burn isopropyl rubbing alcohol, and they weigh next to nothing. There are plenty of videos on KZbin about how to make them. I looked at a couple of different videos, and used what I thought was the best design. Thanks for this video. All the best to you.

The CO detector was right next to the open flame. If it was on the other side of the room it probably wouldn’t have registered anything. I’m also curious why you took the soup out of the cans instead of cooking directly in them.
@ChefPrepper
@ChefPrepper 8 ай бұрын
The detector might not have registered on the other side of the room, but an odor was. I know the carbon monoxide doesn't have an odor and I wasn't smelling that. I had it so close because most people will be pretty close to the stove when they are cooking on it and I also wanted to know about the possibility of carbon monoxide for my own families knowledge along with our viewers as well. I always take the contents out of the can before heating because of the lining in the cans. Hope that explanation makes sense.

I've never been a fan of tea lights. Id hate to use a scented jar candle, but i think one of the $6.00 DG 3 wick candles would be a good way to heat up something if it doesn't impart the flavor

Don't see how these 3 Wick Cabdles could affect the Taste since it doesn't touch the foods directly.

That is very encouraging. It is nice to know that most people have these fuels at home or they stock them cheaply. I have been watching videos on making gel fuel. It doesn't look very complicated and you can use your eggshells from your meals. Thank you for the video.

Hello Clivedinning, I don't have a link for Dollar Tree products. You can pick them up at your local Dollar Tree or Amazon has some very similar products, but seem to be a little more expensive than the Dollar Tree. Hope this helps and thank you for watching!

What is that metal thing that you set the tea candle down in ?? Looks to me like that's the stove the tea candle is the heater for the fuel. I am confused.
@ChefPrepper
@ChefPrepper 8 ай бұрын
The tea candle is in the lid of one of the little stoves. The lid is sitting on an Empty Trangia Gel Stove I used to adjust the height of the tea candle. All of that is sitting inside the pot stand for a Pathfinder Alcohol Stove. Hope that helps.
