I also live in AK. My family and I are here on military orders. I am over 4,000 miles away from my family. Although I love Alaska and the adventurous life we have here, I miss my family tremendously. Sometimes it feels like I’m on a different planet than them and I miss them so much that my heart aches. Watching your videos helps me so much. It’s been minus 16 in Wisconsin at least once every winter. We get 55 inches of snow every winter. And we have plenty of North Woods here. Cheaper here than Alaska. But no mountains here. I can see the happiness coming through you now that you can stand. Your doing great Joas. It will be hard work coming back but your young and determination will prove great rewards. Happy birthday to your handsome young men. Your family always seem to be having such fun. Pricilla and the girls make amazing meals. Brrr! Very cold up there. But, if you dress for the cold it is such fun being out in the snow. My husband and I used to hike at -10 in NH. all the time. We had our packs filled with emergency gear but we hiked in just our polypropylene tops. Once we stopped, on went the warmer clothes. So gorgeous out there in winter hiking. You will be back to doing this again Joas, maybe not this winter, but you have many more winters to come. Bless your beautiful family.

My DIL father had that injury and began putting weight on it before the doctor told him too. It broke the hardware from the surgery and had to have surgery again to put in new hardware. Two years later he still can’t walk well. Be careful!
