In case's both these parameters can be directly correlated with overall cycle performance, but there are OEM provided curves as per ASME PTC codes for there interpretation in terms of cycle degradation.

So heat rate = isentropic efficiency/energetic efficiency? Modern research is moving more towards exergetic efficiency & exergetic analysis to understand the inefficiencies in a plant better. I wonder if the Pakistani PPs are moving in the direction of such calculations?

A part from the main equipment's of thermal power plant like Turbine, Boiler etc. There are other equipment's which are also of key importance in plant operation like Induced or Forced draft fans of boiler, Combustion air recirculation fans, Boiler feedwater pumps, small pumps installed on condensate or cooling water cycles & many more items like that comes under auxiliary equipment. Cooling water is required to cool the bearings or in some cases motors of these equipment's. I hope you will get my point.
