This is one of the best power probe videos I’ve seen about 14 which is pretty much all of them on KZbin and it’s hard to find one where each mode can be demonstrated in depth, it would be awesome if you were to make a new video going in depth into each mode with maybe 1-3 examples/exercises for us to understand the full capabilities of the tool better

2 is a really good unit, I own one as well. It's simpler as it does not have the LCD display for the voltmeter. Also it doesn't have the same programmable features as the 3. But the Power Probe 2 is still a very powerful diagnostic tool.

Power Probe'ed he Starter Trigger cable and found (once examined) starter motor plug had a 20mm corroded sector.....I can personally say this tool is worth every penny and something i would recommend to others

I have the 2. The 3 version has a digital display as the main difference, so if you can afford the extra cost it is worth it. I have several dvoms so I don't really need the display the 3 offers. the 2 can provide good ground or power supply so that is very handy testing the integrity of components.

Yes it can hurt newer cars. So can a hammer. It depends on the user. I suggest they understand how to use this tool. As I use mine everyday. It saves time finding issues I know to look for. The only real use I have for the long cord. Is when a customers car is stone cold dead battery. So I use my AGM in the Rear of my truck for powering it.
@AnthonyJ3505 жыл бұрын
True, that's why we discuss potential weak points of the tool. You do not want to neglect mentioning the risks of using a tool. You could setup a dedicated multi-meter in a similar fashion and modify the negative test lead with an alligator clip to quickly hook up to ground and use the positive lead in a similar fashion as the Power Probe. On my Power Probe 4 I actually use a test lead from a multimeter so it fits in more places and I don't stress the circuit board out when testing wires when we're doing several remote starters a day.
@MasterChief-sl9ro5 жыл бұрын
@@AnthonyJ350 I just bought a set of Fluke Test leads. More then i need. As I bought it for the Fluke 289.. I never used it much. The Power Probe can find it faster. Just learn to use it. As most people I see with them. Have no clue how many functions it has. Just read the Instructions.

Great video. When I Check the ABS 10 Amp fuse the Power Probe 3 shows a flickering of the ground on both sides of the fuse. All other fuses appeared normal but the ABS has me concerned. I replaced the fuse and no change, I tested with fuse out and got a good steady ground in the fuse holder with key off and a good steady 12v with key on. The flickering (both audible and visible) leads me to believe I have a short or is this normal in an ABS circuit?

@@AnthonyJ350 thank you for the reply. my situation is a little different from others. i did turn on the fan at the fan, and it works. but not when everything is connected and my car is on and running hot. its got new radiator, new fan, new thermostat, new coolant temp switch and i think my problem is with the ac being removed. think wires got changed and need to figure out which wires from use box send power to fans but i think the temp switch in the middle of the circuit needs to be jumped or open, and i only have a short time of running my car after it opens until it starts to over heat and i need to shut it off

Is this the only one of the Probes that does 24V? Is it the top of the line Probe? Does it read ohms? I could have used one of these today to chase down a head light issue after ditching a Cruise control module in a 98 Kenworth T800. What I used to trace wires from fuse box to relay to head light switch alligator clips, multimeter for continuity. BEEEEEEP! Not nearly so loud as your Probe. I borrowed power many times from a tiny piece of metal that a inserted into the headlight fuse. They weren't working yet so I didn't need the fuse installed. LOL! I used continuity to test for ground and sometimes power to the gator on the test light to test for ground. I think I can do all of those things with a multimeter Alligator clips with leads, a test light. I never did power anything up though, I ended up with a missing ground to the head light switch that had been fed from the cruise module. I managed but I think this Power Prove would have done all of it by itself. Continuity rocks tracing out wires. It is really neat to actually find out exactly where stuff in the fuse box goes without a doubt.
