Honestly love this length as far as sweet spots go. For mini-projects, I think good ones besides deepening the reservoir and finishing badtide mitigation would be to expand the green spaces and start to densify the main distinct by replacing the default lodges with the larger ones.

Each pair of your two pairs of waterwheel are currently in a seperate power district as the windmill is disconnected from the tee powershaft below and to the side of it.

Ideally he should remove the path between the lumbermill and the gear workshop and put a shaft there.

For some reason I feel like your wrong. Seems odd for each of the set of 2 waterwheels are on seperate power "districts" when one of them would have ONLY the gear workshop using the power and yet the power demand was sitting at 270hp b4 it was attached to anything else... that's a bit high of a power demand for 2 water wheels and a gear workshop. Js, it's totally possible that I am in fact the one that is wrong. Hopefully he addresses this in his newest episode. I will be watching it next since I was 3 videos behind and just now catching up....

What I do for making those elevated power shaft structures, is put single platforms down the entire length on top of the shafts, give beavers access at the ends, and make it a path on top of the shaft. Makes for easy access to build the shaft, without micromanaging the build queue, or adding extra vertical structures off the sides. Also you have a path already there for changes or improvements later.

I would suggest maybe start with roofing platforms or roadways I'm putting in these pathways bushes as well as statues and lampposts and information posts this would increase not only your overall well-being of your beavers but also help out with longevity but it needs to happen in both districts

I've been playing around with platforms myself and thought I'd pass this along when I saw you setting up your platforms; you can make them with a tile footprint on the ground instead of the 2 tile footprint you've used here. All you have to do is make your regulat platform 1 shorter and then put a 1x2 platform on it. You can build platforms on top of platforms, so you can then stick your two longer platforms going in oposite directions on top of that. It's not super important here but for places where space is tight it quite useful.

Yeah, that's a great solution. These platforms really open up a lot of possibilities that are awesome, the whole v6 update is. Farm on the ground level, everything else above, deep water storage without having to manage multiple holds, automatic handling of bad water...

@@nidodson Also, I build an apartment tower with a deck. You can put rooftop terraces on the 3x3 platforms. Stuck a 1x3 out the side, a 3x3 onto that, and a terrace on there. Not as impactful as all the rest, but still cool.

I know it's out there, but is there a way were you can replace power shafts with gravity batteries in between the windmills. I know that a short length down but during drought every HP is needed and during the nxt cycle all the excess can be stored and reused again in the drought. I know that you made all power shafts in second leg of the powerduct but if possible I think have more winds mills overlooking the colony is nice, but this is my thought process. Thanks a lot for doing this even during your vacation and have safe journey man. TC.

I think you should turn the That Place Up There pumps back on cuz as far as we know, the main districts could be importing water cuz 'import as needed' is the default for everything. Hope one of the smaller project episodes is getting dynamite going. Have a good work-vacation!

13:40 You could gravity batteries on the front wall of the dam, either outward, or if that's too ugly, face them inwards?

To build that power viaduct faster but some stairs up at regular intervals, or a parallel path on scaffolding, so all the power shafts and windmills can be built at once

I wonder if it would be possible for someone to make a mod based upon the drive shafts, but instead of HP it transfers water? Beavers who can build windmills and smelters should have absolutely no problem making ceramic water pipes. The only thing I know about Alberquerque is that you need to make the left turn. Bugs Bunny taught me that.

→ I only now notice ... an easier (but more expensive) way of building the power line on the overhangs would be to get platforms on top of a path, and the power line with the windmills on top. That also would allow to later replace the windmills with the advanced version. → Bad water Contamination killing oaks which are fully grown is not a problem - chopping them down still gives the same number of logs. It's annoying if the young trees are killed. → I'd suggest getting a bit more wheat fields (possibly with an additional farm house), to help with the production of the baked goods.

5:54 You could just put it on the lowest priority. Then, if there is a builder that had nothing else to do, they would work on the monument, widout delaying the rest.

The gravity battery in water should output less energy, if it's realistic, as water is more dense.

Why was the second smelter (the one near the water wheels) switched off? Was there not enough metal or was it forgotten? Edit: it was resolved at 24:50

It'll get fixed late next week probably. Trying to edit the MONSTER of a Premiere asset that contains all 760+ Beard Booster names locks this laptop up like Fort Knox 🤣🤣 But thanks for letting me know. It's become extremely difficult to keep track of whose names are where. Good problem to have, I suppose!

This is sweet spot for timing for these kinds of episodes. One thing u can do is take one part of tech tree (let's say treated planks) and make entire episode around it. Like proper set up and infra. That way u will have resources for big projects and won't have scrap for metal (ha ha) like u had to in ironteeth live streams. PS: Some blasting will be ASMR 👍

I would like to see work on the part of the reservoir, gravity batteries and the large water pump. Ps don't listen to the peeps about the short vids the longer ones are objectively better. lol Have a great time in Albuquerque. Avoid the area around Wyoming or Espanola. 👍

I have only recently started playing this game, but I have yet to have an issue with stuck beavers on a singlewide path. I have drag-built a bunch of shafts, and had a line of beavers come in to construct 5 or so at a time, and they all were able to get out with no issue. I am using update 6.

Not sure if this is a glitch, but if you put sluice gates directly in front of the source blocks, they can entirely block a bad tide. I dynamited behind the water source blocks and created a canal, so the bad water could drain out. Something odd to is all the bad water from 4 source blocks can flow through one sluice gate?!

5:10 now that you have access to vertical powershaft at vanilla, you can easily build sky high gravity battery & I think 1 or 2 battery can handle the entire map for now.

I'd like to see an experiment: Make a sort of mom& pop shop/family farm type setup near your food area. By this I mean: Build a 2 or 3 story setup that consists of a lodge, enough job buildings to employ the beavers in said lodge and the storage for all the materials. For example: 1 Lodge [6 beavers/jobs] 1 Farmhouse [2 jobs] growing wheat 1 Gristmill [1 job] 2 bakery [2 jobs], 1 on bread, 1 on maple pastries. Storage for water, maple syrup, wheat, flour, bread and pastries, enough to build the work places on top of the lodge and dry storage. You could also just put a lodge near the farm section, on the far side of the main lodging. The idea for this experiment is to test beaver pathing, to see if they are smart enough to sleep in the closest lodge to their job. If it works, you can increase beaver efficiency by building these work-towers, especially for builders and haulers. It sucks having to travel across a huge city designed by architects and politicians [for aesthetics and Zoning BS] instead of by an engineer [for ergonomics and efficiency]. I do this in Oxygen not included, having private bedrooms attached to specialist work rooms like research, cooking, farming and ranching, and general pop barracks on the top and bottom of my base for builders and haulers [a strat I took from watching Timberborn vids, colonists that do nothing but build and haul materials].

Barring that, click on a couple of your lodges and see if the beavers that sleep there are those that work in the closest buildings. having mixed use neighborhoods instead of bureaucratic industry/residential/storage/farming zones could improve your colonies if pathing works properly [as opposed to random assignment or getting assigned in order they get home or join the district]

i have a tip for you, and my tip is build towers with gravity batteries on top and put holes beneath them to maximize the energy just like biffa did. btw I'm obsessed with these series, very good job

14:24 Is it me or are the two lower water wheels not connected to anything on the right hand side. From the right angle, it looks like the water wheels are connected to the windmill, but right here it looks like they are driving into the ground. Ah well it wont matter in a few minutes as the new connection will take it to the other hilltop. Lets just hope there is a connection with the top tier.

If I'm not mistaken, he put a vertical power shaft under the windmill, where the T powers haft connects. Windmills can now transfer power downwards, it was shown off in the newest update notes.

I'm so glad that he addressed the multiple comments regarding the power connection not being connected. Some ppl claimed it was 100% not connected, which turns out they were actually 100% incorrect. Atleast you were more along the lines of confused and hopeful
