I like to think the Morphing Grid that puts you in the protective suits basically enhances your normal body to peak efficiency no matter your actual body size and type. Its hilarious how the concept of "morphing" is flying over some people's heads lol. These people outside of their suits are just normal average men/women, well vast majority of the time anyway. "Morphing" into the suits isn't just them changing clothes, it literally changes them physically and grants them super human strength and agility. As other's already said there are other cases of characters changing drastically when morphing into ranger mode, Jason becoming thinner makes sense and is actually the least extreme example compared to the others.
