Thanks for reviewing how these work together. It’s the missing link for my lawn edges where the whipper snippet just doesn’t cut as well as the cylinder mower.

It 100% makes all the difference when you're cutting the rest of the lawn with a cylinder. Glad the video was of some help. 🤙

I'm not sure, to be honest. Might be worth a look to see if the end of the extender has the capability to fit the correct collar?

How well would it do at the corners on 11:25 ? Where the brick meets the wood. Seems it would be difficult to get the grass right in the corner due to the round shape of the scissors.
@thelionlawn Жыл бұрын
Yeah, corners are tricky. The only way I've worked out to do it, is pop the head on its side like a knife edge, and run it along the edging to the corner, and then along the brickwork to the corner, and then walk it out from the corner while still on it's edge. It isn't perfect, but gets most of the grass that way. 👍

My 40v was so hot started smoking. I said ahh what the hell lets send it. Managed to finish the lawn. Figured I’d really push it to test warranty. But ryobi is not going to last by any means

Wow that's crazy. How long was it running for? I've done my yard every week for the past year, and used it pretty intensely at another property on some thick overgrown flooded areas, and it's not missed a trick.

I'd like to see more brands bring rotary scissors into their lines, for sure. It's such a great tool for edging.

Do you know if the rotary scissors will work with the 18v ryobi straight shaft trimmer. I've gone the 18v route with my garden tools but haven't seen anyone online mention attaching it to the 18v trimmer, only 36v.
@thelionlawn Жыл бұрын
Hi mate, I'm not sure unfortunately. I know Yard Empire/Old Time Parts only list the 36v as tested.
@bengow771011 ай бұрын
Do you have to know if it’s compatible with the petrol trimmer or just 36v?
@thelionlawn11 ай бұрын
I'm not sure mate. The petrol model isn't on the list of "tested models" at Yard Empire website (formally OTP). But I'm sure they would know. yardempire.com.au maybe get in touch with Jason and see if he can point you in the right direction. 🤙

Hey mate does it get hot mine gets quit warm using a milwaukee
@thelionlawn9 ай бұрын
Do you mean the scissor? Or the battery/powerhead? The scissor part gets a little warm from friction, but I wouldn't say hot. And the powerhead doesn't get any warmer than it normally would running the whipper snipper or edger attachment.

Ok got the kit! now the headache of finding EP-0 Grease.. any idea where to get the appropriate grease in Australia? what have you decided to go with?
@thelionlawn2 жыл бұрын
Excellent! I saw OTP posted on their Instagram last night or the night before that they now can provide a tube of grease for use with it, so maybe have a look there. Otherwise, perhaps a lighter gearbox grease from Supercheap/Repco would be the ticket! 👍

Can anyone compare this to rotary scissors from EGO? Are those from EGO as durable when edging and pulling them through dirt?
@ducati652 жыл бұрын
What are your thoughts on running the idech head on an 18v ryobi? I’ve got all the 18v gear and don’t really want to start getting 36v tools.
@thelionlawn2 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it would run it, but how efficiently I don't know. I run the 36v at sort of half to 3/4 speed on the trigger and it still chews through a battery pretty quickly. I'm not sure if the 18v is on the list of tested models on the Old Time Parts website, but I'm sure Jason could let you know. It's a big investment for it not to work, that's all.

@@thelionlawn is the drive shaft on the 18v tools the same as the larger 36/40v tools though?
@thelionlawn Жыл бұрын
@@iangrogan5261 I'm not sure mate. I don't have an 18v one any more to compare it against. The fact that they don't appear on the tested models list would suggest they're different, but I couldn't be sure.
