Omg thank you so much. I was about ready to drive my truck into the lake I was so frustrated with the freaking seat. Watched so many videos and could not figure out how to get my passenger seat to recline forward - been laying down for a year 😩 ultimately we just cut the wires for the recliner and moved it to the upright position and left them so it can’t get stuck back again. (It would recline but not come back up). Thanks again…. Easiest fix and simplest video for 2007 Tahoe seat recline issue. THANK YOU!!!

My power tilt on driver seat of my GMC Terrain wasn't working. The fix is to test the switches on the side of the seat. That can be accomplished by prying off the side cover and checking continuity on the switch bar. That bar of switches is very cheap, under $20.00 so it might be the first to replace. The power tilt is in the back of the seat. You have to remove the hard plastic cover on the back of the seat. That will give you access to the motor for the power tilt. If you can find or rig up a 12Volt battery you can connect it to the positive and negative leads on the motor. This way you can test the motor independently of any wiring or switches. In fact you can use this technique to check all the motors (forward/backward/tilt). It turned out in my case it was the switch. The motor tested fine. Search driver side GMC Terrain switch and you can find it for cheap on the web. Hopefully this info helps someone else.

Big help thanks. Our 2011 Sierra was similar but not exact. The lumbar is a plastic janky mechanism that applies pressure as it squeeze the plastic inward....while uses the seat back you removed to assist it. Also the seat frame crossbar on the lower back rubbed the blue wire (blue and pink pair) that go to the lumbar motor. However, this causes a 'timeout' of the entire power seat function. I tested by purpose grounding the rubbed blue wire and sure enuff if faulted.

I’m going through this same dumb intermittent shit with my 14’ ESV Premium. Driver’s seat always gets stuck in the max recline position. The wires looked ok when I snatched the cover off the wires looked ok. I just wiggled them and voila! Working for now. I thought it was the switch and I spent $125 from the dealer for one and didn’t even need it. Thanks for posting this video as there’s not many that tackle this exact issue👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

Got a different cause of the same problem. The outboard drive rod is moving the seat, but the inboard drive rod is not turning. Tracked it down to the worm gear that drives the inboard rod must be stripped. The motor is turning it but it aint moving. What a surprise GM wires getting eaten thru by metal. I always inspect each branch of the harness as it goes thru the engine and the body to see what it is getting cut by in all our vehicles and they get cut by alot. Mfg's trying to save one penny per harness make it 1 inch shorter and it causes it to bind up againts metal that will cut it. Thanks for the info, dont have this problem but Im sure I will and Im gonna fix it before it breaks. Nicely Done!

Did this and my driver seat that was not moving at all starting moving after doing this. THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO! IT WORKED! ONLY ISSUE NOW is the seat only moved for a few seconds and then stops. This is the 5th common problem with the seats and a totally different fix. GM stuff is not very good anymore. Except I guess the Buicks they build in China for China. They want Buicks for some reason.
@WrenchSense5 жыл бұрын
I agree, to a point. I have logged thousands of shop hours on many different makes of vehicles and IMO GM is the way to go unless you don't mind Honda. Build quality with Honda is excellent and because of that GM and Honda have much higher resale values. However, the higher end GM and Honda products will always outperform the lower end. Still, a lot of these problems pop up when the vehicles start getting higher miles on them. With some makes you will see these problems occurring with much lower miles. Cough, cough....Chrysler... Cough Cough... Ford.... Cough... Cough. In reality, our vehicles have become so much more complicated than they ever were and when manufacturers do this, naturally a higher miles vehicle will see issues compounded many times over. The biggest problems with reliability are the engines and transmissions. GM has dealt with this by keeping its larger displacement V6s and V8s simple. That means push-rod engines vs overhead cam engines. The less moving parts, the more reliable. Ford and Chrysler have gone all in on overhead cams which make a bit more power but at a big cost of reliability. Avoid any Chrysler motor ending in .7.... The 2.7, 3.7, 4.7 and yes, the 5.7 hemi have insurmountable longevity problems. They are all overhead cam engines. (Don't even get me started on transmissions) That is why the larger GM V8s can handle things like turbos, superchargers and high compression much more reliably than any overhead cam application bar none. Reliability is where its at.
