It was through other synods, or councils, that all the errors about the mother of the Lord entered the Church. You disagree with councils to come, I disagree with councils past. Yes I proudly Love our Blessed Mother who unfailingly supports and intercedes for us, but worship, silly to suggest it. JESUS We all meet one day and good people that you are, he will surely say how much he loves you but maybe ask, why were you so horrible in the way you spoke about my Mum ? Should we in light of warnings see the signs so that together, not separately, we unite in prayerful adoration of The holy Trinity. Furthermore, the dilution of the Catholic traditions that is intended, is what it intends a watering down of humble adoration. Or am I misguided ? If you inherit a splendid house, why knock it down to live in a shed ? Prayers, penance and sacrifice and love of all who are in circumstances needing our help and humbly providing it is integral in our pursuit of salvation.

The church is in crisis alright...you got that part right...try spending more of your time in prayer, namely Our Ladys prayer...The Rosary...offer Mass everyday instead of taking holidays and sight seeing...STOP giving the faithful communion in the hand, and explain why...stand up with a strong united voice, against Abortion...theres your synod...now do your jobs...you have become more secular than true priests of holiness

There is no possible middle road between the "far left" nor the "far right". It would be like trying to mix oil with water. Those of the "Far left" is Modernist heretics who have no fear of God nor respect for God. Those of the "Far right" love God and cling to all His holy precepts through the 2000 year teaching of the Church from scripture and tradition. It would be like trying to find a middle ground between God and satan.

Unity between left and right is not the goal. Heaven is the goal. Doing the will of God our Father is the goal. If someone here on earth is in grave error, we should not seek to be in unity with them. We should remain in union with God's holy will and laws, and try to guide our brother/sister to repentance and renewed union with God.

This is great Joe and all. Wondering if there is a transcript so that some of the 'casual' remarks aren't lost? Things towards the end that caught my attention. From Tom when he talked about working at the micro level, remembering that the 2nd century church was tiny! Seems to come back to how we live and have our being in ordinary life. Loved his focus on the importance of facilitating existing skills within the church. That is definitely a power shift for clergy but also for people to let go of wanting someone else to 'do it' for them. Mark raised the issue of clergy serving the people. Great but once again, hard to shift after centuries of people believing and doing otherwise. But it seems that all speakers are in this mode. Particularly loved the last flashes of insight: take the risk and don't lose your nerve. We're on a whitewater ride not seen since the end of the 14th century. Stay cool, stay loose and from John, the encouragement to let the spirit speak and don't be afraid to bring up any issue that rises from that engagement. Openness and being willing to listen matters. As I watched I recalled being a young Baptist at the time of and in the years following Vatican II. I'd had no contact with Catholics, apart from my great Uncle Jim, because I wasn't allowed to talk to them. But suddenly, we were all meeting in homes around the community talking about how the new changes could engage us all. I discovered that the local Catholic priest was a friendly, enthusiastic man. Such a revelation! But quite quickly all that energy seemed to ebb away. We stepped back into our own locked boxes. Maybe fear took over. So, I'm reminded of the story of Pandora. When she opened the box that was forbidden to her, all the ills of the world rushed out. Enough to put anyone off and an encouragement to bang the lid down tight. But she persisted until hope, waiting right at the bottom, had the opportunity to rise up again.

Not because there are now fewer priests engaged in pastoral work! I refuse to accept the diminished number of priests as reason for encouraging lay ministry. I do recognise, however, that perhaps God has blessed us by not calling as many as before to the priestly ministry and so providing an occasion for rediscovering lay ministry and coming to understand the theology of Church and mission which underlies and gives purpose and scope to ministry. Seeing lay ministry as the solution to the priest shortage tempts us to setting it in the context of expediency. We will end up trying to fill gaps and maintain obsolete models of pastoral care. Seeing lay ministry as an expression of mission arising from baptism and confirmation leads us to setting it in its proper theological context. We will begin transforming our structures and methods of evangelisation, and establishing new, more relevant and effective models for pastoral care. I hope one thing that comes out of this synod is that priests stop taking a day off from their vocations. My parish priest takes Mondays off so we dont get mass on Mondays. If he wants the day off at least have morning mass and then go take the day off. Or arrange for another priest to have mass. It's funny. A young mother doesn't get to take Mondays off. She's a mom 24/7. She doesnt take a day off from her vocation but the priest does. Its insane!!!!!!!!!!
